September, Microsoft hit back claiming they were number one in Europe and America..., November Nintendo hit back saying they were selling the best in the Christmas period....
January Nintendo slashed at Microsoft with the "We're number 2 in the world" whilst Microsoft said "and we're number 1 by miles in Europe"....
CHILDREN PLEASE... Who gives a flying chimney who is number 2? It's hardly the coolest title to have, "The worlds second most popular console"... out of 3... it's pathetic! But it is because of this cat fight that has held Microsoft back.
You see Nintendo are a niche company, they are popular with the younger generation (After visiting a school today (innocently) I discovered the most popular console was the Gamecube) and have their own special hardcore fan base (us lot). Microsoft are not in this war to fight battles with the "niche company", Gates and co. are here to destroy Sony... you compete most directly with them.... you want to muscle the company that has a console that doubles as a mini-PC out of the market......
So stop pi$sing about with Nintendo and sort yourself out!
Aha looks like they have. Microsoft have announced that they MAY not go backwards compatible, it obviously worries them not that Nintendo's next system does play older games.... Microsoft also confirmed what the system offers in the form of hard drive etc... all depends on what SONY does. Okay, sounds pretty stupid that Microsoft need Sony to design their stratagy but this way Microsoft can fight Sony head on.
Good sod off, leave the little company to the niche fan base.
Wahoo World's third most popular console here we come!
Hell, me and my mates have managed it for years.
And PS2 requires a £20 multitap add-on for four player.
1) On the N64, the poor machine didn't cope so well on some games.
2) It does ruin an element of surprise but it's a small price to pay for the rest of the fun. And not an issue if you're all on the same team.
Yeah, the screen portions are a bit small but you get used to it.
Me and my friends managed to have HOURS of fun on Goldeneye, 4 player splitscreen on a 14 INCH!
It's not an argument against the PS2 though, because the PS2 can do 4 player with a multitap. The reason why I'd choose the GC version over the PS2 version is partly because the reviews claimed the GC version was a little more polished in places, and more because the PS2 pad is...
painful! :-S
*points to door*
get out.
> Haha. You really don't have a clue what you're warbling on about, do
> you? If you can name a game that plays better in 2-player than it
> does in 4-player, then I'd like to hear of it. 4-player is generally
> better than 2-player because as more people can be involved, the game
> is usually more exciting. Desperate? Heh.
1) Most people find it realistic to find one more person to play against.
2) 4 Player split screen SUCKS unless you have a massive television. It is crap on a 32 inch tv so god knows what it is like on a smaller one. I don't know about you but I like to play games sat back fro the tv rather than peering at my little postage stamp viewing area...
However here is really where I end the argument...
Playstation 2 version IS 4 player and IS 16 players using linkup. Technically, using the argument you use below, that makes the Gamecube version not as good as the PS2 one...
> "TimeSplitters 2 is better because it has a 4-player, which
> generally makes games more fun and exciting, and therefore
> better."
> "NO IT ISN'T!"
> "How not?"
> "It just isn't!"
See? Still laugning?
Why, Dringo, in this thread, are people saying TS3 and Burnout 3 are both not coming out on the Gamecube?
They must have gotten their information from somewhere...
> Yeah, they would hardly do Link by themselves would they? Duhhhh....
> I'm sure they had meetings with Todd McFarlane over Spawn as well!
> That doesn't mean McFarlane had to publish the game....
