Worldwide production of the Cell chip is estimated to be at 15,000 units a month. Which would mean that even if every Cell chip is put into a PS3, by the end of 2006 they'd still only be able to manufacture 360,000 of them.
There are 5 million PS2 owners in the UK, over 60 million PS2 owners worldwide. If you want a PS3? Join the queue.
X-box could snatch it.

BUT!!!!
On another secret hush hush forum far far away, someone else has indicated that infact when gamespot said 'chips' they should have said '300mm wafers from each of which 100 chips can be produced'. That would mean a more respectable 18 million PS3s per annum (but then remember not all Cell chips will be used in just PS3s). Trouble is the guy who said it didn't quote a source.
So it's back to square one. i.e. nobody knows anything as usual.
