.....stunning. Stunning, i thought i would never say that about a film that is based on a computer game (well sort of) and is completely computer generated.

The graphics/animation is the best i have seen anywhere, let alone in a film. The level of detail on the characters faces is breath taking and looks very much like a real persons face. Even on the close up shot with the main character, you can see the skin imperfections and it looks very, very real. The characters move like people do, either be it walking along a corridor or scrabbling up a recently destroyed building wall to reach the top. The audio and music is very good as well. The sounds are very realistic from the voices of the characters to the sounds of feet walking alone a pebbled/rubbled terrain. The music is powerful and used in certain parts of the film to add to the effect of the current situation.
Forgetting the fact that the visuals are very impressive the plot is worth a mention. This film isn't just hoping to get somewhere due to the very good animation the plot is something you would expect from Square. Some of the ideas in the film are very original, interesting and weird! I don't want to give to much away if you haven't see it already (and you SHOULD have!!!) but it a decent plot which doesn't look like it has any trouble moving alone as you watch the film. You are never at one point bombarded with so much information that you are overwhelmed and haven’t got a clue what is going but neither are you picking your nails or looking round the cinema for something interesting. The start of the film is slightly odd but it does explain itself. The film also has so much emotion. You'll either be cheering on the squad of marines or the individual characters as they try and make a difference. You'll hate the main "bad-guy" and you'll feel a little bit sadder when somebody dies. Add to this the music, the sounds and the facial expression of the characters and you've got a well put together film which deserves praise.
The bottom line is this film is excellent and by far the best film i have seen this year. Even if you are not into the Final Fantasy series (i've only played FF8) the film has nothing to do with any of the games. If you make one trip to the cinema, it should be to watch Final Fantasy: The Sprits Within.

I doubt that very much. There are a lot of visuals that not would have only taken a lot of money to create but also a lot of time. How would the marines actually wear their armour? The technology that allows people to wear bulky armour and allow fluid movement doesn't exists. They would have had to use computers anyway to create the phantoms, the stuff in outer space, the dreams and the ending. The computer terminals would have had to have been changed as well so the real actors could have used them. The film would of properly cost more to create in real life and would of properly haven taken longer as well.

Comically bad? I don't think so. The faces where well done and although movement was limited they weren't that bad. The look on the woman’s face when a phantom is behind that guy, before the camera shows the phantom you already know there is one behind him.
A preview was shown in Japan to a group of Japanese film makers and one of them wanted to sign the lead female role on a £6 million pound contract. He didn't realise it was computer generated until somebody told him, this fact was mentioned on the Sci-fi channel during Anime week to celebrate the release of the film. Also try looking at the web site http://www.finalfantasy.com/ and click on "Production" is shows how much work went into producing the facial movements and expressions as well as the hair on the characters heads and face (bear, eyebrows, etc)

To pharphrase Jurassic Park -

So an orbital space station could be easily recreated? A plane that changes shape when landing and taking off could be easily recreated? The space marine armour could have been easily recreated? A derelict Old New York could have easily recreated? Need i go on?

Reason? If this

To me there should have only been one game with the Final Fantasy name on it as none of them are related. They are just living off the name, but i still believe that it still would have gone a head with production. The plot is original and is well thought out. Unlike a large amount of films that are being produced today.

...rubbish! It has the most appaling plot, terrible "acting" and simply should never have happened! Why? Why did they do it? That pile of tripe could easily have been re-created by a troup of real actors at a quarter of the price. You would then have got faces that actually moved and looked somewhat realistic. Sure, things look rather good when totally still, but as soon as anything moves it is almost comically bad - espically where faces are concerned. Totally emotionless which makes it impossible to empathise with any of the characters - ultimatley leading to you simply not caring in what happens.

Final Fantasy tries to re-create real object at a great expence - why not just use the real thing?

Reason? If this didn't have to silly CGI gimmicry and the pointless Final Fantasy name it would NEVER have been greeen lighted by a studio. The story is AWFUL. Totall tosh. I won't ruin it for you, Square have done that already. Woeful, can't believe someone read that tripe and though "lets invest a hundred million in it".
