Yup. It's out.

It's about time there was an alternative to Halo. Looks like this is it, and judging from the early insight given by the 200+ MB Demo, i'd say it kicks halo's ass in almost every way.

The vehicles kick ass, and I can see some similarities between It and Halo.

Halo had the banshee, UT2k4 has the Raptor - two very similar aircraft, both with plasma style weapons and explosive secondary attacks. Heck, the wings on both craft even leave little air trails...
Halo had the Warthog, UT2k4 has the HellBender - two very similar vehicles, with a driver, gunner, and secondary gunner.
Halo had the Scorpion, UT2k4 has the Goliath. Two tanks, both with cannons and MG's.
Halo had the Ghost, UT2k4 has the Manta. Again, two hovercraft, both with light weaponry.

Ut2k4 also has the Scorpion (I think that's the name), a Buggy type car with a top-mounted turret that fires electric 'ropes', a very inventive weapon, might I add.

Thankfully, it runs just as fast as UT2k3, has a nice new-ish look to things, and has great gameplay too, in my opinion.
Unlike Halo, which was sluggish and buggy, and lacked the 'Aaahhh, having a PC is worthwhile' feeling.

As always, some nice new weapons are included, and the assault mode is back with spectacular style. It really is so VERY impressive.

I Personally think that we're looking upon a game that'll make a bigger impression than we think. Definitely worth checking out.

Just wondering whether people are suffering from Lag on UT2004? Because I do and a review of the demo on firingSquad mentioned lag. Now with a 1Mb connection I dont really expect lag, hopefully this is just in the demo and will be fixed in the finished game.

Specialreserve.com as a host name?

or whatever the company's site is.

Hey, it'd be a bit of publicity towards the insane amount of americans on there.

Hmm, but they're in america.

I'll get my coat...

When people are hosting games what server name do you give? As if we had a list of server names we use when hosting we can then search for these servers to see if any one else on here is playing.

They have 1600x1040 or something. But its out of proportion with the normal display scheme, just like how 1280x1024 is, even though people use that rather than the normal 1280x960.

No 9800 Pro 128mb. Combined with 1Gb RAM and a XP2800 CPU it can play games well. Good demo so far. The onslaught mode is good especially with all the vehicles. Max settings and nothing has slowed down at all. Be nice to get that 1600x1200 as then that would look a bit better.

THey don't have 1600x1200?!? That's disappointing, my stupid monitor's native res is 1600, which is a right hassle when it comes to frame rates and the like. I usually have to make do with a stretched image.

Deathmatch seems more smoother than assault and onslaught to me... oh CTF and bombing run aswell...
