Here are a few reasons why the N64, shouldn't have been released:
1) Cartridge games are dearer to produce, therefore we, the customers, find the games more pricey which then leads to us not buying them.
2) The cartrides and the consoles are bulkier than other consoles.
3) Cartridge games have to be cleaned more often because the dust gathers in the hole were the cartridge is inserted.
4) If you push the cartridge in too forcefully, you can wreck them.
If you wanted, you could say ''Wht did they bring out CD based consoles if it was posible to have just the same efects with a cartridge console. If all consoles were cartridge based then maybe the games could be sold for less.
I.e Perfect Dark - I would not want to have play this on the PS - Imagine it - Crap blocky graphics, terrible sounds, and a complete lack of polish - But on the '64 the machine allowed Rare to get the game amazingly good (yes I know Rare is part owned by Ninty so would never release a game for PS, but you know what I mean)
Games like JFG, Mario (yes all of them) and Zelda would have either been put on the GC (which I hope they still will!) or ported to the PS or Dreamcast.
One last thing - What is more bulky, a completely 90 degree PSX 'box' of crap, or a lovely curved, smooth finish on an N64?

andu call the 64 bulky? the original PSX was huge compared to the 64.
