As I have said countless times Nintendo have an army to be proud of in the East... but major developers are leaving Nintendo in their droves.
Midway are not the worlds worst developer, but they are no means the best either, Acclaim after losing Burnout have nothing new to offer the gamecube... Codemasters have some class software that could improve Nintendo's userbase but nothing essential... and Eidios have lost nearly all their best franchises bar Hitman.
But that doesn't mean a thing in the world of business. Granted from our pessemistic point of view Nintendo can lose THQ as well because they are also 'crap'... as long as EA, Ubisoft and ACtivision are on board all is okay... and all 3 are without a hint of slowdown.
But Mortal Kombat, Hitman, Extreme G and various others do sell systems... or at least are reasons why people SHOULDN'T get a Gamecube.
Because we no longer have them.
As I've said before Nintendo, if you are listening, and you said you are.... please offer some incentives for these developers to jump back on board... get some exclusives... some EA style deals just to ensure more multi-format games.
If you expanded Silicon Knights and Retro Studios from their one game a year between them status to massive developers then the situation would be less dire. But you haven't, in fact you've given them Metroid and Metal Gear Solid to developer... big games indeed but NOT Western games... these are games invented in Japan... you NEED to start grabbing some western games or inventing your own.
The choice is yours... a bit of dealing with major publishers such as Ubi-soft, Eidios, Atari and Acclaim or a multi-million investement into your 2 current teams making them large enough to support the west single handidly (Rare did it after all)...
Because if you don't do something... then I'm afraid no dual screen handheld or multi-million selling Resident Evil game can save you.

You miss my point...
MGS and Metroid are "universal" games like Mario and Zelda made by westerners... they do well the world over.
Animal Crossing and Tales of Symphonia are japanese, they out-perform universal games because they are built especially for the western market. GTA and Hitman 2 are massive western games and outperform the "universal" MGS, Resident Evil etc... Hitman 2 of course famously knocked Mario Sunshine off the top spot.
Nintendo don't have any games built for westerners... games like Banjo (platformer in a western style), Conker, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark and Jet Force Gemini... these are titles Nintendo used to publish... now we get Geist and Die Hard... the only games Nintendo invested in built for western gamers.
Nintendo needed the football, racing and RPG game Retro Studio's were developing especially for the western market. But Nintendo stopped all of those projects.
It's time someone got a little slap.
> No Rush 2049 sequel on Cube = me gutted
Damn, I forgot about that!
EVIL!

But they appeal to Westerners as much as the Japanese, moreso perhaps. Your point was that the games didn't appeal to Westerners. Well they do. And wasn't Metroid PRIME created by Retro?
They're losing the publishing rights to a lot of videogame series' to EA.

But MGS and Metroid do well over there.
Prime's FPS position meant THAT game didn't do as well...
But MGS does do well over there.
And it is besides the point these are Japanese games with western influences...
NINTENDO NEED WESTERN BLOODY GAMES. Geist and Die Hard just aren't enough.
*Applauds*
I can't imagine why every Xbox owner in Japan would need 71 copies of it though.
> Metal Gear Solid and Metroid Prime not Western games?
Metroid was invented by Nintendo EAD a Japanese development house.
And Metal Gear Solid is a Konami game created by Hideou Kojima...
Think about it.
