Wait until you've played Twin Snakes, then you'll see what I mean. Fighting Metal Gear Rex I never had to throw a chaff grenade, run to the corner for a ration or pick up more stinger ammo... just stood and blasted him. The ability to target Revolver Ocelot in 1st person removes any trace of a challenge from that fight, the final punch up against liquid is over well before the time limit (because your fists hit him no matter what, and he doesn't dodge or counter. Whether you considered it easy before or not, it doesn't change the fact the boss fights are total non-events in Twin Snakes.

And I certainly will stay away from Ikaruga - I'd pretty much already played it to death a year ago, Psyvariar 2 is where I'm at now.

You thought the boss battles in the original were actually challenging? Best stick away from Ikaruga then.

As for Friday, I already have mine on pre-order just to pick up from GAME on Friday, muchos looking forward to it.

Only 9 Europeans have submitted clear codes for the Jpn version, out of those I was only sixth fastest. That's my mission now, try and equal the ridiculous completion times set by the Asian players (1 hr 15 anyone??)

No, normal mode. But a higher difficulty setting is not going to stop you from being able to use the tranquiliser gun or shoot out cameras, so the situation remains the same. Which is why this game will only be difficult if you set your own challenges... the AI is pretty snappy when you're up close, so getting dog tags is tough. The biggest challenge, though, is adapting to the awkward controls!

The boss battles will hopefully be tougher though. Cyborg Ninja used to be scary...

Finished it tonight, was a wonderful experience but if you are playing to beat it, there is no challenge. They haven't altered the game at all for the MGS2 style, so you can basically tranquilise every guard and destroy every security camera from a distance, and then stroll through it. Also the boss battles are total non-events... situations that tormented me for hours on the original were beaten in five minutes here. Particularly Metal Gear itself - which is odd because the Stingers were in 1st person on the original as well. But I had him destroyed before he even got a chance to fire his vulcan laser!

MGS remains my favourite of the games, but I'm looking forward to trying to get all the dog tags in Twin Snakes now.

Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles should arouse some interest.
