OK, here's the thing. My gran sold some shares, so I've got £1500 just sitting there in the bank account, and it's all 'disposable income' i.e. I can spend it on whatever I wish to.

Thing is, I'm now having a dilemma.

I know the X-Box is going to be good, but I'm going to be waiting at least 6-8 months for it.

I know the Dreamcast is good, because I've got one and an ever increasing number of great games for it, and games are getting cheaper more quickly by the day.

But, there's a PS2 for sale just a few clicks away, brand new, with DVD remote, for £269.99, from SR. I could order it now, with Onimusha, The Bouncer, GT3, Zone of the Enders and Red Faction, with no problems.

If I do that, though, it means that my budget will be more restricted when X-Box time comes about, it also means that my collection of 14 Dreamcast games (plus more in the pipeline) may get made redundant overnight, and there's not all that many games out for the PS2 that I really want at the moment, but more are sure to come later. (MGS2, anyone?).

WHAT DO I DO?????????

Will you be able to get a second hand PS2 for £100?

If so, let me know where!

*FM reads this thread and a few in the PS2 forum as well*
*Considers all the angles discussed so far*
*Decides to wait for the X-Box, but may pick up a second-hand PS2 and a few games for £100 in the meantime*

Get a PS2 if you've got 1500 quid to spend. Then buy an x-box and gamecube with the rest of the cash!! :-)
If you're only going to spend 1/3rd of it on games though then I'd get the PS2 now. Waiting with that money burning a hole in your pocket would be hard. It may all just flitter away over the next few months whilst you're waiting for the x-box.
Games I'd get:
GT3
ZOE
Red Faction
Starfighter

I'd also get those reebok trainers you're saving for ;-)

FM, I'd wait a while if I was you.

Put the money in an ISA or something 'til christmas, you'll get loads of interest on it. Plus, buy christmas, you'll have heard reports o how well the XBox is doing in the US.

If it sounds crap, you can then get a cheap PS2 in the after christmas sales. Also, you'll be able to play all the quality DC games between now and January.

Sorted.

I was in the same dilema but wiht x-box replaced with Gamecube. I bought a PS2 becasue the GC launch looks crap.

no regrets. i got GT3 and REd faction. REd faction has not entered my PS2 yet, GT3 is that damn good and that damn addictive.
