Variety comes in packs of 8 and which one to choose… (Sorry)

Now one thing (hopefully) even Playstation fans can accept is that when it comes to variety Nintendo give you the better options. First we have colours, the N64 has a large collection of different N64 colours, the Gameboy Color is the same and so is the Gameboy Advanced even the Gamecube will have a selection of colours to choose from.

So what I hear you cry, since when has colours had an effect on gaming, well as Tesco’s say every little helps and if you are one of those people who don’t like purple or black it is nice to be able change it. But I’m not just talking about the colours of controllers and consoles I’m also talking about your ability to choose what sort of console you want. The PS2 is expensive, this isn’t a big criticism but one thing that drives up the price is its ability to play DVD’s. If it was £100 who would want to buy a DVD player if they get a game console and DVD machine combo for cheaper?

Unfortunately people who already have a DVD player or don’t want one isn’t getting a good deal, they are paying extra and the extra they are getting is something they don’t want. Now Nintendo make a console without a DVD player to cater for the people with low budgets or don’t want a DVD player whilst Panasonic make a more expensive console for those who can afford more and want a DVD player. A nice bit of variety there.

Nintendo games also show a lot of variety, they tend to be unashamedly cute but if you like Racing, Golf, Board games, platformers, RPG’s, Beat ‘em ups and puzzle games you can get a Mario game! It is quite amazing how Nintendo can make so many different types of games to cater for so many different peoples tastes involving a fat Italian plumber! Smash Brothers is a great example of Nintendo’s variety as you can compare Nintendo’s big name characters and discover how different they are.

So should we see more Variety in games? Is Variation in colours important? Will we be able to pick and choose graphic and sound chips to suit our budget much like a PC’s in the future? What do you think?

Here’s to the future

Mature people? And why are you here then Turbo? Some of us have been playing games since before you were born. Ninty simpletons? Says the cahmpion of the consoles for kids. The PS was aimed at 10 year olds getting consoles for Christmas and birthdays. It is time that you realise that people like you are just not wanted here. You can not talk sensibly about gamesand gaming issues. You do not express opinions you try and make everything a fact, a statement. Ignorant and biased. What a cheek to talk. And how stupid is this, Away is a 2 syllable word!! Go. Away. We. Don't. Like. You.

Got it?

Tltawhirl ignore Turbo he is a stupid biased unpaid Sony employee.

Why they ever gave you a GAD is just one of the mysteries of the universe.

SSX, TimeSplitters, DOA2. There you go, that's 3 great titles for the PS2. SSX is the best. Have you even played on any of these? Didn't think so.

Look, if you're going to be ignorant and biased then bog off to your little Nintendo forum where you can babble on to your simpleton Ninty friends about how crap the PS2 is because it looks like a radiator.

It's time that people like you realise that you are just not wanted here. This is a mature forum for mature people who can talk sensibly about games and gaming issues.

So your saying that you thought the playstation 2 launch titles were good ha ha ha, maybe there was a lot of games in the launch lineup but the fact is they preety much all crap. Name one really good game for the playstation 2 that is a must buy that was in the launch lineup hmmmmmm i cant think of any can u they were mainly mediocre crap. The fact is that u look at the gamecubes launch lineup theres a lot of good maybe even excellent games in it. I would rather have maybe 8 games worth buying than 36 or however many u said there were that are either graphical updates from the ps1 to ps2 or just plain crap.

All sorts of variation is good. For instance I do not want a purple GC I want a blue one. Might not be able to get one but in blue but if there is the market for blue GCs they will be released. After all there was a market for coloured PS replacement cases. But on the quantity over quality thread I think that the best way of finding a balance is to let some what may be said to be bad games through. But not as many as the PS or PS2 but more than the N64. I think that in that respect the best balance was found by Sega with the DC. But I would also like to get more grown up and les cute games on the GC. Do not get me wrong I like Mario but I do not want everything to be Mario. I would prefer Virtua Tennis to Mario Tennis if either were to be released on the GC.

That depends. Wing Over for PSone would never had been allowed to be released on the N64, but I think it's a class act game, and one of my favourites.

Most people would choose the good games but I like combat sims and even if it was poor, as long as it got more than 6/10 (which it did, surprisingly) I'd buy it.

If Nintendo allowed some of the less impressive games to be realesed, there would be the same number of good games, but there would be much more choice, and fans of the genre would be able to get their hands on more of what they like.

People tend to choose 'Cheap'. Good seems to be more of a bonus.
