apart from the fact that they put GT2 instead of 3 and think it's only 1-2 players digitiser gave the game what it deserves.

5/5 despite it's faults it's still an excellent racer.

gotta hand it to one of the letters

GT3 will propably get lots of stick for being like GT2 when nintendo update the same 10 year old game and everyone kisses it's bottom.

If anyone here sent that in PRAVO !!

I respect your opinions as long as they are sensibly made, which for the most part they are.

But if you extend the argument you are making, why buy any other game if you already have one of the same type?

Any racing game is just accelerate, brake, left, right.

Any platformer is just left, right, back, forward, jump.

What makes any game or sequal worth getting is the subtle changes that appeal to the fans of the genre or series.

I didn't buy FIFA2001 because I didn't consider it different enough to FIFA2000. GT3 has undergone enough changes to appeal to me so I bought it.

Also remember that there are many PS2 owners who didn't have a PS1 and will not have experience of the previous games.

Its a racing game.

Its a racing game.

I`ve said it twice because its the main problem that`s held within this argument. Kingpillock is saying that there aren`t enough differences (other than graphics) when compared to previous GT games. This almost always happens with racers.

Ridge racers, GTs, Colin Mcraes F1s the lot... they are all racers, and as a result it is very difficult to make radical changes. The kind of thing kingwatsit is talking about is having capture the bag, with audi TTs. This isn`t possible really within the racing genre (unless you go down the Smugglers run road). It is a simulation racer, and as such it must follow the rules!

It has made a huge graphical leap. The sun in the sky, the trees by the road, even the flags waving in the background are all vastly improved. However, beyond the graphics all they can do is fine tune the gameplay, which they did very well. For example, the rally mode is excellent now. Better that any other rally game I`ve played!

I agree that GT3 would seem better if you hadn't have played GT1 and 2, but the fact is still that it is the best driving game ever made.
It is just an update, but other than damage and online capabilities, there isn't a lot more that can be done with the GT series.

Non PS2 owners (Nintys in particular) critisize the fact that GT3 is only an update, but how many updates of FIFA have there been?? Too many to count!

Turbonutter, that is EXACTLY what I'm talking about. All the improvements you mentioned are superficial. That's imporvement list is something I'd expect to read, describing an expansion pack. Ah! I've got it! GT3 is an expansion pack! The only reason, in reality, that it isn't is because there hasn't been a GT realised on the PS2 before it. Anyway, here's my summary:
5/5 if you've never played a Gran Turismo game before.
3/5 if you've owned either of the previous two games. I think that's fair. At least I'm nt coming out with stupid comments like it's 'soooooo boring' (ie. N64ever)
Sony fans, I am not your enemy. I am just giving my honest opinion on a PS2 game.

Or the fact that not everyone has got the first two GT's. Giving it 3/5 will put people who never played the series right off.

Wouldnt you prefer to play the new generation games to older titles?

Not to mention the fact that some of the cars havn't actually been released yet - they are still in development.

Enjoy riding the cars of the future!

Hmm, differences. I haven't really got thhe time for this but:

Different cars
Different manufactures
Totally new structure
Different GUI
More tracks
Different races
More races
Different liscense tests
Different modes
Added tune-ups
Great music
Different Re-modelled tracks
More responsive
Different handling
Higher framerate (yes, that counts)
Different conditions, including weather
Better rally mode
Different rally handling

The list goes on...

We do get it.

But when will you get that one 3D platformer is pretty much the same as another?

Yes, those games have similarities. But you can't honestly compare Super Mario World on the SNES to Super Mario 64 on the N64 and say they are similar like GT2 is to GT3. Turbonutter, try listing the true differences between GT2 and GT3. Upping the graphics and replacing some of the old ones is all I can think of. The actual way the game works and the goal of the game remains the same. Christ, I must've said this so many times in here. When will you get?
