Are you getting fed up about the possibility of ANOTHER X-Factor Christmas No.1? ...us too...so we're going to do something about it!

We are all buying a download of 'KILLING IN THE NAME' by RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE right NOW! until the end of Saturday 19th December (23:59pm).

THIS IS NOT A CLEVER ADVERTISING PLOY, LOOK UP RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE ON WIKIPEDIA, THEY ARE DEFINATLEY NOT SOME LARGE CORPORATE PUPPET THEY SUPPORT MANY GOOD CAUSES AS DOES THE FACEBOOK GROUP PUSHING THIS

LET'S GET RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE TO THE CHRISTMAS NO.1 SPOT THEN!

We cannot mass message all members. Facebook disable that option on large groups!

Q: So how do we do this then?
A: Take your pick(s) of the digital providers below. It should take you to the page where you can purchase your copy of KILLING IN THE NAME. in most cases it's track#2 but check before you click!

Q: Why have you used shortened links?
A: It gives us a ROUGH idea of how we are doing on sales. I can get a click count this way

Q: But there's other websites now offering RAGE for Xmas links?
A: Yes, but these links right here were created by the creators of the whole campaign themselves. They are not 'affiliate' links so therefore nobody gets any sort of 'commision'. You don't need to go anywhere else.

Q: When do i buy 'Killing In The Name'?
A: NOW until Saturday 19th December at 23:59pm

Q: Can I buy loads of downloads?
A: In a nutshell no. If the Chart company see unusual selling patterns they can ignore the bulk purchases or worse still remove the track completely. As admin I cannot be seen to encourage this

** DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT 10 TIMES OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT...IT'LL JUST GET ANNULLED FROM THE CHART **

Hallelujah is a Leonard Cohen song. Totally butchered by the X Factor though.

The only winner to have an original song was Shayne Ward. The rest have been covers.

Hallelujah? Wasn't that already released before last xmas?

And with the publicity, literally the show is the publicity - months of hyping up a winner and this buzz will then literally sell the record - people won't even have to hear the song to want to buy it.

Seriously, if they called the song "Happy Joe and the Christmas Bunny" and the lyrics were to a Black Sabbath song sung backwards, it would sell millions because X-Factor had hyped it up.

It would be great for one year for something to reach number one without a TV show being involved.

Even a song with snow in it or some jingle bells would be an improvement! :)

Hmmm don't think you watched X Factor Hippy. :P

All the X Factor songs are newly written. Not saying they are good, because I don't think they are. But they are new.

The X Factor song is only announced and sung 3 days before it's released. The popularity of the show certainly creates publicity but I would say for the show, not the song.

Inevitably this idea is going to fail massively. A facebook group competing against the most popular show on TV (arguably) and Simon Cowell combined...............

I know who my money is on.

Maybe, but it will be an interesting experiment and I'm eagerly looking forward to seeing how an idea can affect the charts

To be fair, you are right, but at the same time X-Factor don't produce decent Christmas songs. In fact generally they butcher classics.

I'm not too fussed in general what is a Christmas number one - I tend to just like music, whether it's popular or not. X-Factor number ones get there usually because of a popularity contest and not through talent(this single, although in the process of being released, has been plugged for months and months through a controversial reality TV show/popularity contest).

The charts for me say nothing. I couldn't even tell you what songs have been number one this month (I couldn't even actually name a number one hit this year...).

To cut a long story short, I am doing this for several reasons
a) I love the song (as stated earlier)
b) Annoyed at X-Factor (as stated throughout this post)
c) Am interested in seeing the result of a mass effort to prevent an event that is likely to happen anyway.

> BUT IT ISN'T A CHRISTMAS SONG!!!!

They talk about crosses though...
(please treat that last comment with the contempt it deserves...)

*Note: This was not aimed specifically at pb's post, but he helped provide a basis for my argument...and I would in fact support his alternate choice for xmas number one with exactly the same argument :)
