After due consideration here are the results.

Everybody wants User Profiles.

RBS says lean some of the GAD prizes towards lesser forums to boost them and he suggests we include a "what's going on in the forums" or "forum news" somewhere.

Gaming Boy would like to see more input from the staff to start topics and kick-start discussion.

Grix suggests we have a tournament where we all download game to our PC and play against each other.

er-no wants a "who is here" link. You click on it and it tells you the names of most recent posters (good idea). And er-no wants the Notables to be given something to do (a request which I have just complied with in Chat forums)

TheBest_2K1 is keen on putting people in a hot seat. Everybody fires questions at the poor so...

Quazimodo would like links to your "Latest Post" and your web site url in your stats window (excellent).

Meka would like us to hold a song contest and have counters to see how many people have read a thread. pb backs this up with a similar request on reviews.

Cookie Monster suggests a Cluedo-style murder mystery event.

Dan2K1 would like on-line darts.

Dringo is keen to repeat some "Opposite Posts" - I believe this is intended to be head to head challenges on specific arguments.

Chr!stos says we should sometimes vote for Gameaday winners, instead of them being always picked by staff.

Salevunit suggested a Winning Posts Forum (view only), plus Tag of the Day competitions, Search Facilities and Caution Tags. The latter is a particularly strong suggestion, i.e. to give warning tags to people likely to face a ban.

BUT THE WINNER IS:
The prize is for the best SET of suggestions. The winner is SHEEPY for the following ideas:

FOG Lotto
Round Number Prizes (e.g. at 10,000 posts in a forum)
"Number Day" I think this means we would all be anonymous.
Vote people off the forums Big Brother style (love that).
Guess the Phantom Poster.
Complaint Button (already in place now with the report link)
Improve the message filter and the feedback from it.

Contratulations SHEEPY and I hope you enjoy munching your prize.

Thank you again to all those who contributed and sorry not to be able to mention everybody.

*********

These were the original rules.

This latest EXTRA GAMEADAY is for the best SET of suggestions for "adding life" to the forums.

Imagine that you are in charge of the forums. What would you do to start some interesting debate or to make the place more interesting?

Please DO NOT suggest things which require (much) programming. And don't suggest a chart of Gameaday winners as it is already being sorted.

We already have:
Top Posters chart
Notable/Regular/Newbie system with 'orrible colours
Voting for Notables
Extra Gameaday Prizes
Protected "Prime Topics" forum
"Stats" for history on contributors
Taglines

Closing date is August 1st or shortly thereafter, and it's the best set that wins. All the posts that you make will count towards your set.

Another thing is a way to have an email sent to you to tell you if anyone has posted something in a thread that you have commented in or started.

Well as we all know the notables have been in the SR mag (Your not that uglt er-no ;)). Well I think somebody else should be in it every month.

Maybe have a small compitition and people could say they want to be in it... they then send pic and you use their profile in mag as well like the notbales.

You could pick them yourselfs or let them argur it out themselves on why they should be in it next.

Lovely

In the PC Gamer mag, they have a round up for their forums, and what the hot topics have been. Maybe SR can do this again, sending out sort of a review of the month! That would be great

Special Reserve should make a quiz and send it to every mail box at the forums, then the entries are sent through email back to SR, the one with the most answers and the quickest time to respond get named 'Quizmaster' for that month or something like that... it would certainly raise a few points on the forum, and if SR were feeling generous they could offer a prize.

A Special Reserve forum newsletter.

Right then, this is created by the users and then we send our own stories or reviews to SR and they put it in a special newsletter email and send it out every week.

SR could select who writes what and change it every week, you could have a special quiz and the person who made the questions gets entries or answers send to their email to judge.

I would love to make a general gaming quiz and then judge it through my mail box.

It doesn't have to be just notables and regulars that add to the newsletter email, choose about six random people every week and they all make a newsletter working together, send it to SR who then make it into an email for everyone. Not much programming involved, all the work is done for you and the forums would have more life because people would want to talk about what they are going to do and what was in the lastest issue.

Great!

Give notables or selected regulars a job or task to do in the forums.. whether it be selecting one at random and then asking them to choose a 'hot topic' (another idea in my set) or asking them to hold a debate or topic discussion... this would eliminate the need for a staff member and also no programmming would be involved as you are only asking the choosen one or two to carry out a task!

Also with this under their name they could have a little * or something to show that they are choosen to other members.

Brainteaser, little quizes. These would be really good and you could post one once a week, and we would all have to try and solve it.

I keep thinking of really good things and then forgetting them again. A magazine forum, where we can talk about different computer mags.
