The "General Games Chat" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
After due consideration here are the results.
Everybody wants User Profiles.
RBS says lean some of the GAD prizes towards lesser forums to boost them and he suggests we include a "what's going on in the forums" or "forum news" somewhere.
Gaming Boy would like to see more input from the staff to start topics and kick-start discussion.
Grix suggests we have a tournament where we all download game to our PC and play against each other.
er-no wants a "who is here" link. You click on it and it tells you the names of most recent posters (good idea). And er-no wants the Notables to be given something to do (a request which I have just complied with in Chat forums)
TheBest_2K1 is keen on putting people in a hot seat. Everybody fires questions at the poor so...
Quazimodo would like links to your "Latest Post" and your web site url in your stats window (excellent).
Meka would like us to hold a song contest and have counters to see how many people have read a thread. pb backs this up with a similar request on reviews.
Cookie Monster suggests a Cluedo-style murder mystery event.
Dan2K1 would like on-line darts.
Dringo is keen to repeat some "Opposite Posts" - I believe this is intended to be head to head challenges on specific arguments.
Chr!stos says we should sometimes vote for Gameaday winners, instead of them being always picked by staff.
Salevunit suggested a Winning Posts Forum (view only), plus Tag of the Day competitions, Search Facilities and Caution Tags. The latter is a particularly strong suggestion, i.e. to give warning tags to people likely to face a ban.
BUT THE WINNER IS:
The prize is for the best SET of suggestions. The winner is SHEEPY for the following ideas:
FOG Lotto
Round Number Prizes (e.g. at 10,000 posts in a forum)
"Number Day" I think this means we would all be anonymous.
Vote people off the forums Big Brother style (love that).
Guess the Phantom Poster.
Complaint Button (already in place now with the report link)
Improve the message filter and the feedback from it.

Please DO NOT suggest things which require (much) programming. And don't suggest a chart of Gameaday winners as it is already being sorted.

Maybe people could recommend a topic for people to look at. You could know who recommended it and then people may look at these topics.
How about a song contest?
Maybe the Topics that are posted on the 'Prime Topics' forum could be graded 1-10, and then the person with the best overall score at, say, the end of the week or month or even the end of the year could be noted or even get a prize. When I say noted, I mean when you bring their stats it could say,'Best PT poster@, for example. And on the top poster page or even a seperate page, could give a table on the current scores, or an extra column could be added to the current tables.
We need to be able to enter our websites on the register form. Then Special Reserve should pick a members website of the week and put it on one of their pages with a short review and what its about etc..
The prize is lots of more hits to members sites and also lets people find some great sites!

How about a page showing the best ever reviews submitted to the site. There could be a list of movie and game reviews.
Or a page to show the 30 best reviewers os all time.

I think the following ideas will be a good addition to SR.
SR Member Of The Week...
Each week, the peron who Tony feels has contributed the most and been a value to SR should become member of the week. On their stats, it should display, "Member Of The Week 3/8/01 or whatever the date is of that week. I think Saturday would be a good day to decide them.
Signatures...
A lot of other people have said to have Sigs. I completely agree as a lot of other forums I've been on, have sigs. There should be a limit though, like 10 lines, so that people do not post incoherent drivel for countless lines, taking up valuable forum space.
Moderators...
Again, I have seen this on other forums and it does work. You may say that it is a stupid idea, as the Mods will get power mad and ban people etc. I say that anyone who becomes a Mod must first agree to terms and conditions and if these terms are broken, they are banished from SR permanently, if the offence is bad enough, that is. I think that it would be a good way to clear the forums of rubbish posts etc.
I had a few more ideas but I just can't remember them. Thanks for listening and SR is a classy site, well done Tony and everyone else who put this excellent site together.
