After due consideration here are the results.

Everybody wants User Profiles.

RBS says lean some of the GAD prizes towards lesser forums to boost them and he suggests we include a "what's going on in the forums" or "forum news" somewhere.

Gaming Boy would like to see more input from the staff to start topics and kick-start discussion.

Grix suggests we have a tournament where we all download game to our PC and play against each other.

er-no wants a "who is here" link. You click on it and it tells you the names of most recent posters (good idea). And er-no wants the Notables to be given something to do (a request which I have just complied with in Chat forums)

TheBest_2K1 is keen on putting people in a hot seat. Everybody fires questions at the poor so...

Quazimodo would like links to your "Latest Post" and your web site url in your stats window (excellent).

Meka would like us to hold a song contest and have counters to see how many people have read a thread. pb backs this up with a similar request on reviews.

Cookie Monster suggests a Cluedo-style murder mystery event.

Dan2K1 would like on-line darts.

Dringo is keen to repeat some "Opposite Posts" - I believe this is intended to be head to head challenges on specific arguments.

Chr!stos says we should sometimes vote for Gameaday winners, instead of them being always picked by staff.

Salevunit suggested a Winning Posts Forum (view only), plus Tag of the Day competitions, Search Facilities and Caution Tags. The latter is a particularly strong suggestion, i.e. to give warning tags to people likely to face a ban.

BUT THE WINNER IS:
The prize is for the best SET of suggestions. The winner is SHEEPY for the following ideas:

FOG Lotto
Round Number Prizes (e.g. at 10,000 posts in a forum)
"Number Day" I think this means we would all be anonymous.
Vote people off the forums Big Brother style (love that).
Guess the Phantom Poster.
Complaint Button (already in place now with the report link)
Improve the message filter and the feedback from it.

Contratulations SHEEPY and I hope you enjoy munching your prize.

Thank you again to all those who contributed and sorry not to be able to mention everybody.

*********

These were the original rules.

This latest EXTRA GAMEADAY is for the best SET of suggestions for "adding life" to the forums.

Imagine that you are in charge of the forums. What would you do to start some interesting debate or to make the place more interesting?

Please DO NOT suggest things which require (much) programming. And don't suggest a chart of Gameaday winners as it is already being sorted.

We already have:
Top Posters chart
Notable/Regular/Newbie system with 'orrible colours
Voting for Notables
Extra Gameaday Prizes
Protected "Prime Topics" forum
"Stats" for history on contributors
Taglines

Closing date is August 1st or shortly thereafter, and it's the best set that wins. All the posts that you make will count towards your set.

Sheepy and I have come up with about 50 ideas and they were all good, so if you can come up with another 50 that are original then I will take my hat off to you!

I said this about, oooooohh, a couple 'o' months ago now, but where on the 'hassle' chart would adding more 'titles' to contributors be?

Newbie - Regular - Notable - Respectable - Intellectual - Editor - ????

Not too many more 'titles' but enough to add more guidelines for fellow contributors. Except - how we're supposed to advance to the next level of class is another matter that I'd best leave to Tony the Tiger.

Oh, and the colours for each one could be put to the vote - PLEASE?????

Maybe if you had to achieve something spectactular to reach Respectable or something? Go-on - think about it...or is there too much darn programming?

How about a ask the notable link.

This where people can ask the notables or staff about the forums, what things they talk about etc. Notables could get answer their questions then because they get emailed them or something by SR

Another idea

You know sometimes Ant and some others do that wrestling thing, well you could have anactual page doing this, where selected people do certain matches. You email the person sayin that they are doing the Notables Vs the staff match for example. This I think would be a good idea and the best match for every week would get a game.

You know we have the vote for notables thing yeah.

Well along it that we could have a campaing page, where people can start campaigns. They could add pictures of them doing stuff, they could make comedy speeches on why they should be the next notable. They could tell people about their time at Special Reserve. Oh yeah and only regulars can start a campaign, simply because it is only them who can be voted for.

People could also add their comments about their person. They could have official spokes people etc

I think it would be fun, but you might not so hey, it's only a idea.

Idea

I think I've suggested this before but I can't remember. Pu todwnloadable walk throughs to the most popular games up on the site.

Say you do walktroughs for the 3 top selling games on each platform, then, you post them up on here ready for download. When people are stuck on games more often than not they'll buy a walkthrough which costs around 12 quid. If the walkthroughs were available for free then you'd get a hell of a lot more traffic directed to the sites.

Uh hum. There was a time system implemented in case you haven't realised. It's now 300 posts, 10,000 words and 21 days.

Change the newbie regular notable system and add more categories. What was the one on "toejam and Earl" on the Megadrive? Dufus, Poindexter... a classic!

Dont have signatures, you already have taglines and sigs would increase the length and loading times of the pages. if you wanted signatures, have them on the user stats popup windows.

Give out reddies for "imaginative replacement-swearword of the day", decided by notables. (give them something to do.. :) )

when you refresh the page, it displays only new topics, ones you havent replied to at all, and ones you have replied to. then if you have read a topic and its not of interest, its not shown again.

Instant messaging is a good idea, though you could instead have the ability to send an sms from the user stats popup page, withhold the number, just have a link.

Could you sell instruction booklets for games as well? it would be a great service, like buying games ex-rental or off the net.

If a topic has a GAD winning post in it, have a little GAD image on the topics list, or have it coloured yellow, so its noticable.

when you click reply quoting this message, have the original message in a different colour so you can distinguish between the old post and the new one.
