Right. Now that i have your attention, Who reakons there is life on another planet and when do you think we will meet it? I reakon that the first life which is not of this world will be like a mirco organism somewhere. I'd say maby 2050. If however the first thing that we contact is more advances then id say around 2500. what do you all think?

We don't actually know 100% what happened at the creation of the universe. Maby there was another universe before it and it aventually destroyed it self and formed a nnew one. I dunno, you dunno we all dunno. Ok

Almost...

Infact, NOTHING existed before the big bang. Just a "singularity".. a single infinately small point. This contains all the mass of the universe. Now, fo reasons unknown to scientist, this exploded. (Some think that there are new areas of physics that only happen at these conditions).

Now u ask... how was the big bang formed? Well, superstring theory answers that. (This is HUGELY complicated, to such an extent that no-one without a PhD could even contemplate the whole idea!). Anyway, basically we are all made of multi-dimensional "strings" that manifest themselves in this 4D universe (yes, the universe IS 4d... if you want me to explain the consequences, then tell me).

Anyway, antimatter. When the universe was formed where was equal amounts of both matter and antimatter... due to complex physics (u may have seen those swirly paths of particles?), we are here now!

BIG CRUNCH= never happening...

believe it or not, the universe IS epanding at a faster and faster rate. The reason is due to the energy created as matter flows in and out of existance (energy is the same as matter... e=mc^2 remember). Thus the universe will get bigger with no end...

but that's a long way off ;)

As for Ant's thing about the Big bang not being proved... it is also not proved that we are really here (infact there are compeling quantum physics papers that show otherwise). However, all the evidence shows there to have been a big bang, and it fits in with the universe now. However, if u want to propose a better theory go ahead! lol

Oh, and evolution... these "flaws" are in fact only "found" by American church obsessives who both do not understand the idea of evolution, and don't wnat anything to undermine the belief that god made us in his image.

Take, for example, the eye. These Americans think that it was imossible for such a complex organ to be formed. IT IS! But this is not counter-acting the evolution theory. What Darwin's theory says is that it is far more beneficial for animals to have ONE (or some) light sensitive cells, rather than none. true. Over time those with this light sensitive cell (which is caused through genetic mutations or inter breeding), will survive far more than those without the cells. Over millions of years the number of cells increases as a more and more positive survival chance is possible. Eventually these are concentrated where they are needed most (in the front of an animal), and eyes come about. They do not just appear!

NiGHTS!

PS: "SPACE" was the biggest pile of ____ I have ever seen! The stuff being said was so elementary that I knew it when I was in primary school (no... seriously!)

Well I probably know the most about this subject as I want to be a Planetary Scientist when I grow up :) Not your average job.

Too tired to talk mind you and heart-broken (kinda)

So cheese :P

but how did it all start in the first place hey? it just dont make sense. there has to be a creator of everything. this points to there being a higher life force. maybe a GOD. So GOD has been around forever? how can that be?

Funny you should put up this topic.

I've just read Mars (which is all about finding life on Mars...)

They've found microbes or bacteria on the red planet but don't expect intelligent life in this solar system.

As for the big bang theory, it's been more or less proved.

Then there's the theory of "Le Crunch".

That means that the universe keeps expanding until gravity pulls it all back into the middle where it all started.

The big bang shoots everything out and it all comes back in with an almighty CRUNCH!

After which there's another big bang. It's the universal cycle...
