I have one. It's on. My line is supposedly activated monday for BB. But the 'Link' light is on. And the manual says that means it's 'recieving data'. Line already on? I can't seem to get it to work properly, so I doubt it is...but...

Am I being waaay to hopeful?

Is there a connect button? Would have thought it'd connect automatically though, you could try flicking the power off and back on to it to see if that makes it do anything, but if you do that make sure the settings you've entered really are saved or you'll lose them.
If your link light is solid then I would think it means you are actually connected although apparently your router setup seems to be arguing with that.

Arg, this is confusing me.

First of all, the Link light is ON. Not flashing, it's solid. But when I go to the router set-up, the LAN is active, but the internet (WAN?) is off - not unknown, but disconnected. I have no idea if that means it's ready to be connected (and if so how), or rather it simply means the line isn't active.

It's all confuzzling.

If the link light is solid and not flashing your activated. If you can check the connection status you should have some numbers telling you connection speeds etc. 1152 and 288 for 1Mb

If the above is true then its your end as you would be activated. Check to see your ethernet connection is working, as if you have no ethernet connection then your not connected to the router. Check software like IE, outlook etc arent set to connect to dial up as you want to leave it set to LAN.

I realised I was thinking stupid looking for a connection - the idea of just IE is bizarre... I'm on XP.

I've checked again and I don't think the lines activated yet - I'm pretty sure everything else is set up. Ah well.

When it's connected properly, and it doesn't sound like it is yet, all you should need to do is open up a browser page and it'll work. I remember that was a weird idea for me to get used to when I first got broadband.
What Windows are you using? I'm on XP and it pretty much set the network connections thing up on its own.

It seems likely that you just haven't been enabled yet. Of course the LAN will be operational, because the router is also a switch, meaning that you could build your own network.

I wrote some more in the WLT as well.

Aha, the internet one is yellow - disconnected. I'll try that thing anyway. Thanks NB, you've been a great help!

You won't get an icon that marked Freeserve or anything.

If you have run the EZ Config thing, entered the username and password and been able to save it, if the two boxes in the EZ Config thing go green, then you are good to go.

After that, open up control panel > network connection > set up a new home or small office network.

Mash next a few times and bear in mind that the router is that other PC or residential gateway.

This is silly.

I've (I think) configured it all. But I can't reach the net through a BB connection - there is no icon to click. I try to make one and it either says 'destination could not be reached' or that 'one should have already been made'.....

Just stick the phone lead into the router and it should use that. Leave the modem, just don't have the lead into it. And er, disconnect too or it might confuse Windows.
