FM licked the first three fingers of his right hand and stroked his eyebrows, smoothing them down. He turned at, white robes with simple gold embroidery down the front swishing around him as he heard the guard approach.

FM was standing in a simple square room, with four braziers, one in each corner, all burning different colours. These weren’t normal flames however, as they did not give off coloured light, and the room remained smokeless, with a white light seeming to emanate from the walls and floor, with no shadows forming. In the middle of the room were two pedestals, about four feet apart. On top of them was a box. In it was FM’s father. FM turned as the guard stopped, bowing.

“Master.” Said Sniper, raising his head, looking into FM’s cold, hard eyes.
“You have your mission? You are ready to leave?”
“Yes Master.”
“Good.” FM turned back to look at the coffin, licking his fingers and rubbings his eyebrows again as he spoke. “This is just the first part my friend. I will have my revenge, I do not know when, but I will/”
“Yes Master.” There was an edge of concern in Snipers voice.
“What is wrong, my friend?”
“I do not know, Master. I think I am worrying with no reason.”
“Ah. You are concerned about the book, yes?” Sniper lowered his eyes. “Do not fear. I will find the book. MY magic grows with each passing month, soon I will have the power needed to find the book. Then, when it is mine, I will have unimaginable power!” FM felt a shiver run up his spine as he closed his eyes, imagining the power he would wield. He looked at Sniper. “You have your orders.”
“Yes Master Meister.”
“Go. Be swift, and do not fail me.” Sniper turned and left the room.

FM turned back to the coffin. As he walked around it, his fingers traced the inscription carved into the stone. He knew them all, word for word, but their feel comforted him. They were instructions on how to travel the underworld.

Wrath exploded through Meka’s mind. He screamed “No!” in a murderous rage as he leapt off the rock. With both hands he brought the sword up while still in mid-air. When he hit the ground he recoiled, swinging it around from behind in an arc. The sword whistled with its speed. The man had turned as Meka hit the ground. Seeing Meka coming, he brought his own sword up defensively, with lightning speed.

Meka watched as if in a dream as his sword come around. Every ounce of his strength went into trying to make the sword go truer, go faster. Be deadlier. The magic raged with his need. Meka looked from the mans sword, hard into the steel blue eyes. Mekas sword followed the track of his eyes, he heard himself still screaming. The man held his sword straight up, to deflect the blow.

Everything else around the man dissolved in Mekas vision. His anger, the magic, was unleashed like never before. No power on earth could deny him the mans blood.

He finished his arc, the sword coming round at eye height to the side of the mans head. It shattered through the mans sword, and exploded through his chainmail hood, bits of molten twisted metal flying off into the undergrowth. The sword continued its journey, making contact with the mans skull, and continuing through, out the other side of his head.

Bits of bone blood and brain flew up into the air as the early morning air was filled with a cloud of red mist. Steaks of blood covered Meka, dripped down his body, dribbled off his sword as he slowly lowered the point to the ground.

The mans body crumpled slowly to the ground, blood pumping out over the ground, mixing with the puddles already there. Meka could feel the cold mist help cool his body.

“Meka!” Meka awoke, a sheen of sweat over his whole body. “Meka, my brother, are you alright?” asked Grix.
“It was that dream.”
“Again?” Meka nodded in reply.
“Come on, get up, we have to meet the others soon.”
“Who?”
“You know, the others from the village. Dan2K1, Venombyte and Ant.”
“What about er-no, and YH?”
“They said they had something to do. They will meet us later.” Grix helped his brother to sit up.
“Ok, give me a few minutes." Grix nodded and left the room. Meka put his head in his hands as he thought about the dream.

“Master Meister?” FM looked around.
“Yes?”
“I have some bad news Lord, about Sniper.”
“He hasn’t dies again has he?”
“Yes Lord, he fell off his horse.”
“How did that kill him?”
“Into the moat.”
“He can swim.”
“Yes Lord, but as he tried to climb out, he must have pulled the lever, the one you ordered put in?”
“I vaguely remember.”
“That let the piranhas in.”
“Ah. I should have expected something like this. He has a whole bloody palace to have his accidents in. I put all that sponge about so he wouldn’t hurt himself, and yet he falls into the piranha moat. Amazing. Nevermind, he will be back by now. Tell him to continue with his task. Tell him to be more careful next time.”

Five minutes later, back on the island.....

The German ducked under the door frame... stepped into the room to see the numerous small alcoves that lined the blue-lit room, each with a coloured flower and vase to match.

Another German followed and went the same way as the first German. Two other Germans went straight in and sat down at the table.

Two MORE Germans were the last to enter and they sat down...

Everyone looked up as a faint hissing noise saw a door open and a man step in...

"Gentlemen" He announced. "Gutt evening, und Velcome..."

"Erm, ver are we?!" Asked the head German...

"Mein house..." replied the man.

He was of medium build, about 5'10, with medium blue eyes, rather distinguished.

He sat at the head chair...

"Drinken?" He asked looking round at the crew sporting an inquisitive but friendly look.

"Vell," said one of the Germans... "Ich don't know that w..."

"Ya!" interrupted another German "Ich vill haff ein..."

"Carling" interrupted the man. "Carling's all round!" he yelled.

The circular pads that were positioned to the right of the groups seats opened to reveal about 10 pints.

One of the Germans spoke.

"Zo, ve brought der Megadrive cartridges" he stated.

"Das ist gut," said the man... "Oh, by ze way... Call me Anthon"

"Nice place du habst hier..." said another German.

"Ya, ve set zis up ven ve decided to resurrect der Megadrive!" said the man, "It is remote, isolated, just vhat ve needed for der operation..."

"Ve're marooned!" exclaimed the head German as he took another sip of his lager and went off to look at the flowers in the alcoves.

"Kanst du you help us?!" asked another.

"Off course... friends off Dr. Er-No are friends of mein!"

"How do you know Dr. Er-No?" asked one German as he dropped an olive into his water to hear it fizz...

"Me und der Jobester go back a long vay!" exclaimed Anthon... "Ve ver mates back in der Homeland."

"Vhy hier?!" asked another German, as he to took one of the first German's olives but dropped it into someone elses drink...

"Nevermind zat..." Said Anthon, "Ve don't haf time to talk anymore... You've got to get going."

He escorted the group outside where they could see the HMS Fog sail off into the distance.

They met together and the Germans turned round to Anthon...

"Danke, for everything..." they said, sincerely.

"Vat, for a pint and sorting you a ship out?! Ah, forget it... it's vas no trouble!"

Anthon signalled with his hands, and a huge armour plated vessel sailed into view around the coastline, docking gently by the shore for the Germans to embark. They noted the name of the ship. It was called Der HMS FogReich.

The Germans nodded to Anthon as they went up the boarding plank and onto the boat, which seemed a well equipped and suited to their mission.

"You can now go vun off two vays..." Shouted Anthon, over the wind... "Right at the Severnaya falls fork to McSkull's Lagoon, or left..."

"What's left?!" Asked one of the Germans.

"Das ist der vey that the HMS Fog vent, you have to catch zem, board zem, kill zem, zen sail back to der mainland and start spreading those Megadrive cartridges into der marketplatzen. No-one's ever succeeded before," replied Anthon.

"Vell!" said one of the Germans, looking round at his group. "I guess we're going onward either way...!"

As one of them dropped the sail the rest sat down in the boat...

"Onvards!" shouted the head German as his smile turned into a menace...

"Yavowl..." said another... "est ist go time...!"

"Vait!!" screamed Anthon as Der FogReich sailed off into the distance, "You forgot your TOWELS!!! You can't leave them here on my beach!!!!"

"Ha! Zo!" laughed the Germans, waving back at Anthon, "Don't worry, ve'll be back! Leave them there so noone takes our places!!"

Der FogReich caught the wind and the sails snapped into life as it headed after the HMS Fog...

Ant followed and went the same way as FM. Venombyte and Meka went straight in a sat down at the table.

"Well, said Sniper... I don't know that w..."

"Yeah!" Interrupted Grix "I'll have a..."

"Carling" Interrupted the man. "Carling's all round!" He yelled!

The circular pads that were positioned to the right of the groups seats opened to reveal about 10 pints and a glass of sugar water...

As Ant drank his water and Sniper choked and shuddered after taking a swig of his drink, Grix spoke.

"So, what do you do here...?" he asked

"Not much" Said the man... "Oh, by the way... Call me Anthon"

"Nice place you got here..." Said PB

"We don't offer much!" Said the man, "Just refuge for travellers really..."

"We're marooned!" Exclaimed Meka as he took another sip of his lager and went off to look at the flowers in the alcaves.

"Can you help us?!" Asked Venom

"Of course... friends of Er-No are friends of mine!"

"How do you know Er-No?" Asked Ant as he dropped another sugar cube into his water to hear it fizz...

"Me and The Jobester go back a long way!" Exclaimed Anthon... "We were mates back home."

"Why here?!" Asked PB, as he to took one of Ant's sugar cubes but dropped it into Sniper's drink...

"Nevermind that..." Said Anthon, "We don't have time to talk anymore... You've gotta get going."

He escorted the group out-side where 'Snake' was giving his 'farewells' to the ship refurbishment team...

They met together and FM, turned round to Anthon...

"Thanks, for everything..." he said, sincerely.

"What, for a pint and sorting your ship out?! Ah, forget it... it's was no trouble!"

Grix and Meka nodded to Anthon as PB lead the group up the boarding plank and onto the boat, which seemed a little bigger than last time...

"You can now go one of two ways..." Shouted Anthon, over the wind... "Right at the Severnaya falls fork to McSkull's Lagoon, or left..."

"What's left?!" Asked Venom

"I don't know... no-one's ever come back to 'tell the tale' as it were..." replied Anthon

"Well!" Said Grix, looking round at his group. "I guess we're going onward either way...!"

FM droped the sail and the rest sat down in the boat...

"Onwards!" Shouted meka as his smile turned into a giggle...

"Yep..." Said Grix... "It's go time...!"

The crew gazed at the harsh icy wastes before them. Wearing only thin clothes, the icy wind was already pinching with undue harshness - almost as if for some reason, it didn't want them there.

"Right, let's go then." said VenomByte

"You're not going to do it again are you?" said Grix

"Do what?"

"Add to the story without reading it."

"What did you just say?"

"I said, you're not going to take your sword without cleaning it, are you?"

"Oh. For a moment, I thought you said something else."

The motley crew strolled onwards through the barren landscape, waiting for somthing interesting to happen to them. Something new, something groundbreaking.

Suddenly, in stark contrast to the authors suggestive description, the ice beneath them didn't give way. Instead, they saw a polar bear.

"I'll handle this" said Sniper, now fully recovered form his earlier metting with the edge of the iceberg.

Sniper advanced on the polar bear confidently. The bear began to rear up. As Sniper got within ten feet, he reached down to his scabbard, and slowly closed his hand on the hilt of his cutlass.

The bear leapt at Sniper. Sniper realised his sword was frozen in place in his scabbard.

The following few moments were not pretty to say the least, and suffice it to say that at least the landscape was no longer white.

The remaining crew members exchanged nervous glances as the bear approached them...

With the boat out of service... well, at least for the time being, they continued onwards, searching for at least a small bar.

The Snake lookalike... well, that was a lie. He didn't look like Snake at all. He just had a mullet and a grey headband... but anyway, he was still at the top of the boat, keeping watch. It wasn't as if anyone was actually going to steal it, but he offered; after failing miserably at noticing the iceberg, he wanted to redeem himself.

It was getting cold now... Mongoose man was certainly suffering. He wasn't used to these cold conditions... well, Pembroke didn't have the warmest of climates, but this was hell. Ant was struggling too. He was out of sugar.

The others didn't mind though, because at least now he wasn't jumping around all over the place.

"What's that?" Pb shouted, over the wind...

"Where?"

He pointed. It looked like a building... right out in the middle of the snow. Odd, but convienient.

They marched on, and arrived at the building... it was painted grey, and there was a satellite dish on top... as is the norm with these buildings out in the middle of no-where.

"Hello?" Venombyte asked... banging on the door.

No answer. So they decided to break the door down...

Sniper, unfortunatly, asked what with.

---------

Mongoose Man stood next to the indoor heater... hmmm. The building, it seemed, was a reception for some place. A lady sat at a desk at the end of the giant room, which seemed to fill the whole building. FM put the door back in it's place. Sniper asked for someone called "Susan".

"I've got a bad feeling about this..." Ant said, forgetting which story they were in...

"Hello?" The woman asked... "How can I help you?"

The woman spoke in what seemed to be a faked Welsh accent. Oh dear.

"Err... Our boat is stuck in the ice," FM said, "and we would be grateful if you could help us."

Then... oddly, the woman's eyes widened.

"I see." Her accent changed to a French one. "You're late."

FM looked strangly at the woman.

"If you'd like to step this way." The woman stood, and waited as the group walked to the end of the room.

"In here." The woman pointed to a grill situated in the wall, at the bottom. It was big enough to fit a man, perhaps with antlers.

There was only one way to find out.

-----------

The fake Snake peered over the side of the crows nest... five men were walking in the snow.

He pulled out his binoculars, and starred at the men... hmmm... they were armed. One man was carrying something.

He zoomed in... it was a briefcase...

He switched on the "x-ray" feature... it was an optional. He was glad he bought it.

He looked into the contents of the case... and then bought the binoculars away from his eyes... was he going mad?

He looked again. Yes... he was right.

The whole briefcase was full of megadrive cartridges.

He thought about going down... to see what was going on. But then he remembered about his dodgy knee.

"Damn."

------------

"Well, I'm not finding it entirely pleasant to stare at your bottom, but I'm not complaining."

"All I'm asking is when I stop," FM said to Ant, "so do you."

"Guys, stop moaning." Grix said... "All we have to do is ask for some help about our boat, and we'll get out of here."

"It was awfully nice of them to give us such special treatment just for our boat..." Sheepy said... "What was going on with her accent though?"

-------------

Five men walked through the door, and into the room...

"Hello?" The woman asked... in an obvious fake accent... "How can I help you?"

"Our boat is stuck in the ice." One man said, with a german accent. "And we would be grateful if you could help us."

The woman changed her accent again. "Ah... ok. You're late. If you'll like to step this way, please."

The five men walked over, and entered the ventilation shaft...

"Land AHOY!!!!" screamed Sniper as the ship, which was now dubbed HMS FOG, ploughed head on into an iceberg.

Grix, PB, FM and Ant dashed up from down below to see what was going on. They found Mongoose Man and SonicRav running about on the deck in a panic.

"What the hell happened?" PB shouted up to Snake in the crow's nest way up on high.

"Damn".

"We hit an iceberg apparently," said Grix in a matter of fact way, "We all heard Sniper shout 'land ahoy' and then we came to a sudden stop. Where IS Sniper by the way?"

"Erm, he was the figurehead, wasn't he? As in on the front of the ship? Which now seems to be buried in that iceberg?" FM pointed out the obvious.

Meka came running down from aft to survey the damage up front. "Well," he said, adjusting his eyepatch which had been written into the story especially for him, "It looks like we're marooned."

Ant checked himself all over for signs of purple, then saw that the others were watching him with an expression of mild amusement, so he stopped doing it.

"It's a big iceberg," said SonicRav as he stared upwards at the monolithic size of the icy structure that now towered over them and the ship, dwarfed by it's colossal size. "I wonder if there's anything at the top there. HEY, Snake! Can you see anything from where you are?"

"Damn."

"That's a no then maybe. Perhaps we should....explore?"

Each of the group looked at each other, sensing an adventure in the making here, 'the exploration of the iceberg'. It had possibilities, that was for sure, and the word 'exploration' itself might even lead to some kind of adventure.

"Right then!" exclaimed Cap'n Meka in his best pirate accent, "Break out the cutlasses and let's board her!"

"There we are then, boyo," replied Grix, not quite 'getting it' yet as he broke out the armoury and equipped them all with shiny new swords and cutlasses.

Then, they were ready, and off they went.

Sniper ran up to the pier, and grabbed the side of the boat to pull himself in...

"What... no! Sniper! Use the ladder!"

Sniper pulled hard, to bring himself up. The boat tipped over...

-----------

An hour later, they had managed to get the boat back up.

"So, what have we got left?"

"A table, some chairs... and a pack of cards."

FM lowered his head.

----------

And so, the wooden ship, much like one of those old pirate ship thingys, set sail. FM had suggested that Sniper was attached as a figurehead... and so it was.

Grix, Ant, Pb and FM played cards... Meka steered the ship, and had proclaimed himself captain. Mongoose Man was swabbing the decks, Venombyte and Sonicrav were cooking, and the bloke who no-one knew who he was, who thought he was Solid Snake, was in the crows nest, with his gun, keeping watch, and saying "Damn" an awful lot.

Yes, the ship of fools had set sail.

"What boat?" Ant asked.

"The boat we've just been talking about!" Grix said, exasperated.

"Whaa?? Have we?"

"Everyone nodded.

"Oh. Why am I always the stupid one?"

"Actually Ant, you're writing yourself in as stupid in this one." FM pointed out.

"Oh yeah...I am."

"Meka sighed, "Are we gonna get on this damn boat then?"

"Yes, lets."

The group headed out of Meka's house the right way. Apart from Sniper.

"AHHHHH!!! Ouch...Eurgh...Argh..."

The group looked over the cliff, watching as Sniper fell to the bottom of the cliff, in a mangled mess.

They turned to head out again, and Sniper was there in front of them. "Lets go then!"

_____________________________

They were at the boat. It was...large, to say the least.

"It has a swimming pool, a pool table, computers," Meka was telling them.

"Ah, what a ship." Grix commented.

"And a sexual recreation centre. We supply the women. It is considered the height of bad manners to refuse an offer of sexual congress." Meka told them.

"Ah," Grix commented, "What a ship."
