Juve are having a laugh how did they con real into paying 48mil for zidane he is 29. That is 4 years top flight football Not worth 48 mil plus exorbitant wages I woul much rather have veron for half the price as he is better. I would only pay that kind of money for a player like totti who is younger and clearly better. I support Chelsea and I think that Veron was a great bargain and Zidane was a rip off. Out of interest how did they fund this transfer aren't they about 200 million in debt already or did they sort this out last year. Anyway what are your thoughts on Zidanes Transfer.

You can hardly use your finance argument for saying how the losses will be recouped. A few die hard fans might buy new shirts with zidane on them. In reality these are shirts they would have sold anyway and so can hardly be counted as ways of recouping the specific loss on him. It really is too much for a player his age as there are equally talented players such as veron or Totti who would cost less and have a longer lifespan. Also Real are acting completely on faith in the player who is to say he will not enjoy his time at the Barnabeu and won't turn around when the new system is in place and just leave. Madrid would make a huge loss. He will depreciate in value very rapidly for every year over 30 he is and Real could not recoup any money by selling him on.

I'm a big fan of Zidane. He could be the differance between winning or losing.

I have noticed a few mistakes in my last post. Below is what I meant to say:

''I have recently been told that real Madrid own a few banks and so this is why they are able to pay around £50 million for Zinedine Zidane, even though they are supposed to be about £200 million in debt. Even though they are so much money in debt, signing a player of Zidane's quality will mean that Real Madrid will have far more chance of winning the Spanish league and the Champions league, than any other side in the world. Zidane and Figo are 2 of the best players in the world, at the moment, and so Real Madrid will be very hard to beat next season, especially if they play both Zidane and Figo together.''

It will never happen because at the end of next season they are introducing the new transfer system, when you don't pay big amounts of money. You only buy out the rest of his contract and a little compensation.

'Real Mardid are actually in 125 Million pounds worth of debt. This does not include the undisclosed amount that was paid by the Spainish Government for their old training ground.'

This is how Real will get 48 Million back from the deal.

15 Million (estimated) from Replica Kits sold and T-Shirts with Zidane's name on.

2 Million price for each club that want Zidane and Real to play in Friendlies. Estimated 5 Friendlies per Season. 10 Million in all.

The Competitions they should win will both Figo and Zidane (the world's best footballers) in their side.
League Title - 8 Million
Champions League - 35 Million with all Gate receipts and TV rights included.

Total per Season of £68 Million.
The profit left rest should cover Figo's and Zidane's wage bill for a season.

Zinedine Zidane is one of the best footballers in the world but I will agree that the amount of money that Real Madrid have paid for him is ridiculous. Within about 5 years time, players in the English First Division will cost around £10 million at this rate, and players like Rivaldo and Zidane will be worth around £200 million.

The sort of money they are asking is absolutely ridiculous - How can anyone seriously be worth that ammount??
