Post any films you have seen recently (cinema, DVD or TV) along with a short review.

Fast and the Furious 3: Tokyo Drift

7/10

Its rubbish really. The story is pathetic and the set pieces are unbelievable (the Japanese Yakuza settling a problem with some punk kid by having a car race? I dont think so), but the only reason you would go to see this film is for the cars anyway and the races all look great. It was as fun to watch as the other two, possibly even better than #2 and there is a nice surprise at the end for fans of the series.

If you are wanting some great acting, a heart wrentching story and some brilliantly detailed drama, then this isnt for you. If you want Japanese girls in short skirts driving customised sports cars then I think you'll love it.

Catching up with films again.

Brave 8/10
Not Pixars strongest, but certainly a great movie with funny characters.

Might go and see the new Die Hard next week.

Didn't love Les Miserables but didn't hate it either. Glad I went to see it but wouldn't sit through it again. Russell Crowe's acting was good enough but he can't sing to save his life. Thought the girl who played Eponine was incredible though, she nailed every aspect of that part. Be surprised if it wins any of the big awards at The Oscars TBH.

Life of Pi 9/10
Loved it, best film of last year. The end is kind of crushing in a good way.

Warm Bodies 8/10
Better than Shaun of the Dead in my opinion. Very intelligent in the way it explains why zombies eat & genuinely sweet & hopeful.

The Five-Year Engagement 6/10
Passable but still the worst thing Jason Segel has done.

The Dictator 5/10
In moments great, in others awful. Takes far too long to reach its point but nails it when it does.

Annie Hall 7/10
Loses a point because Im neither Jewish or New Yorker & occasionally it went over my head. Its a great film though

Moonrise Kingdom 7/10
Very sweet & one of the few films to stubbornly treat children with consistent respect.

The Kids Are Alright 4/10
I was enjoying it until the final act resorted to man-hating lesbian mode.

21 Jump Street 7/10
A lot of fun surprisingly.

Seeking A Friend For The End of The World 3/10
Pointless crap. Not funny, not dramatic, Keira Knightly being Keira Knightly & Steve Carrell being wasted.

Les Miserables.

Went to see this with my dad and really enjoyed it, it's singing all the way through with no normal dialogue.

Sasha Baron Cohen is brilliant as the devious innkeeper and although Anne Hathaway is only in it for about 45 minutes she plays a really good, dramatic part.

It's a real tearjerker at the end, if you're going to see it and don't know what I mean I won't spoil it for you!

I thoroughly recomment it.

The Bourne Legacy last night:

Seemed to have no real plot, no payoffs to any of the hints of what might happen, with an abrupt end and very little action. Hell, the main chase scene dragged on and was just annoyingly loud.

Watched The Lorax yesterday, it's alright for kids I suppose but it didn't really hold my attention.

Bladerunner 6.5/10

It reminded me of The Phantom Menace.

Cowboys And Aliens 7/10

A future sci-fi classic. One of Harrison Fords best performances.

You're doing that deliberately, aren't you? :)

He must have been else he would have stated that The Phantom Menace reminded him of Bladerunner. Don't care which order you watch it in Bladerunner was out first by a whole generation!

Okay reply to above is late but don't actually seem to watch a lot of movies these days. Just caught X-men First Class and really enjoyed it. Better then the last Trilogy by miles.

Machie seen Silence of the Lambs yet? It is a must watch movie really but someone needs to tell him to avoid Titanic like the plague :)

Think I was blinded by Catwoman TBH

Show Spoiler

Heath Ledger's Joker made The Dark Knight for me and I agree it's the best film in the trilogy. I would say the new one was on a par with Batman Begins though.

pb, Spider-Man is alright, it's certainly not rubbish. Rhys Ifans steals the show, not a classic but worth a watch IMO.
