Fast and the Furious 3: Tokyo Drift

Its rubbish really. The story is pathetic and the set pieces are unbelievable (the Japanese Yakuza settling a problem with some punk kid by having a car race? I dont think so), but the only reason you would go to see this film is for the cars anyway and the races all look great. It was as fun to watch as the other two, possibly even better than #2 and there is a nice surprise at the end for fans of the series.

If you are wanting some great acting, a heart wrentching story and some brilliantly detailed drama, then this isnt for you. If you want Japanese girls in short skirts driving customised sports cars then I think you'll love it.

Outstanding. It's just gone right to the top of my "To Buy" list.

I wasn't expecting much from this but I was pleasantly surpised when I took the kids to see this on Friday.

The 3 main characters are likable and funny, especially Rhino (voiced by Mark Walton) the hampster, who seems to be based on Jack Black! Even the girl, who is voiced by Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana), isn't too annoying.

Role Models : Funny film,Enjoyed this 8/10.

The Strangers : Not a great horror/thriller.Supposedly based on a true story ?.If you want to see it,don't look at the cover as it depicts one the final scenes from the film.Its a bit like like having the poster for The Sixth Sense with Bruce Willis as ghost on it or Jagged Edge with Jeff Bridges using a broken typewriter !.Nice job there Universal,NOT !.Wouldn't bother with it anyway TBH 5.5/10.

Madagascar 2 - 3/10
Not even the monkeys could save it. So unfunny i ended up watching the Superbowl instead, and i hate the NFL.

The Wrestler 9/10
Great film. Totally watchable from beginning to end.

Should be going again soon, but for now...

In some ways better than the first, though it slows too much in the middle and relies too much on the same jokes.

Quantum of Solace
Bloomin camera movements make this hard to watch in places and plot-wise it's not as clever as Casino Royale, but Quantum is still well worth watching. It's still better than most of the other action movies out there.

Dark Knight
What can I say that everyone else hasn't already said? Tight script, great acting and only THAT gravel toned voice to complain about.

Hellboy II
To me, even though it's bigger and bolder than the first film, it isn't quite as good. It's still a fantastic super-hero film and you have to see it just for the drunken Barry Manilow bit.

Seen a few recently :

Yes Man : Liked this,Harmless enjoyable entertainment and I'm no Jim Carrey fan.Worth watching 8/10.

Rock N Rolla : Surprised how good this was.Enjoyable gangster flick from Guy Ritchie.Worth renting for sure 8/10.

Madagascar 2 : Fun sequel,even if it does borrow a bit from The Lion King.The picture on the Blu Ray version is stunning (US version is region free BTW) and kids will love it 7/10.

Quarantine : Pretty cack US remake of the spanish horror film REC.The original is under a fiver @ play.com,would recommend getting that instead 4/10.

Sex Drive : Kind of American Pie meets The Sure Thing.A lot better than the average teen comedy and very funny in places.Worth a watch 8/10.

Incendiary : Boring and pretty pointless tale about a cheating women struggling to come to terms with the death of her husband and child killed in a terrorist attack.Crap 3/10.

Next : Nicolas Cage can see 60 seconds into the future and is called in to foil a nuclear terrorist attack.If you can suspend belief for an hour and a half this is enjoyable enough nonsense 7/10.

Ghost Town : Ricky Gervais big screen debut was much better than I expected.Its good script and he is perfectly cast.As it tanked at the box office its making a swift appearance on DVD/Blu Ray and its actually really good 8/10.

Zack & Miri Make A Porno : Not Kevin Smith's greatest film but its funny,enjoyable and worth a watch if you like his stuff 7/10.

Pineapple Express : So so stoner comedy which is amusing enough in parts.Has the unforgettable line 'You just got killed by a Daewoo Lanos M**********r !' and that is actually the best bit in the whole film 6/10.

Eagle Eye : Bog standard Enemy Of The State rip off.Runs along at a fair rate with lots of over the top action sequences and has a complicated and totally unbelievable plot (basically the CIA wants to kill everyone in the world,on second thoughts maybe its not so unbelievable !).The rubbish Shia Lebouf is well,rubbish and Billy Bob Thornton emailed his performance in.The sound on the Blu Ray version is superb (main thing which kept me awake through the film !) but other than than that,its a pretty forgettable experience.Would recommend renting before buying 5/10.

Not bad, enjoyable providing you're not miserable/cynical and has some interesting things to say about perspective.

Dark Knight

The best Batman movie to date. As with Batman Begins, the mood is dark, Gotham City is less fantasy and more reality than that portrayed in Batman Forever and Batman & Robin, and the situations are almost believable. Heath Ledger plays an excellent Joker which exceeded my expectations but I felt Batman's character was darker still! Action from start to finish. Not a perfect movie though. Rachel's character was a little week, especially compared to Batman Begins, but overall, brilliant movie!

Cloverfield

Although filmed as if on a home video camera (like Blair Witch), Cloverfield tells the story of some everyday youths caught up in a ferocious battle for survival against an unknown attacker. Is it of Earth? Is it alien? What is it? I leave you to draw your own conclusions. However, once the 'disaster' starts, you'll want to keep watching. A unique movie which kept me entertained all the way through. Highly recommend viewing.

A would call this a double tragedy. Not only is the film very sad but it's also not as good as it should be due to poor direction. Evidently someone thought it would be a good idea to turn the story into a mystery, when it's plainly obvious within 30 seconds of the start what the idea is. The title really doesnt help on that count either and it's a real shame because could have been a contender for one of those little gold statues.
