Fast and the Furious 3: Tokyo Drift

Its rubbish really. The story is pathetic and the set pieces are unbelievable (the Japanese Yakuza settling a problem with some punk kid by having a car race? I dont think so), but the only reason you would go to see this film is for the cars anyway and the races all look great. It was as fun to watch as the other two, possibly even better than #2 and there is a nice surprise at the end for fans of the series.

If you are wanting some great acting, a heart wrentching story and some brilliantly detailed drama, then this isnt for you. If you want Japanese girls in short skirts driving customised sports cars then I think you'll love it.

My Best Friends Girl.Average comedy that is quite funny in a couple of places.Not worth buying but I suppose its worth a rent if you fancy the look of it.6.5/10.

I haven't updated it because i haven't seen Geff in a while. It's was a stupid idea anyway.

Watched it last night,thought it was pretty good as well.Its certainly different,bit like Twilight for grown ups !.Reminded me a bit of the 80's vampire flick 'Near Dark'.Its very well made,written and acted and although its pretty slow moving I found it strangely captivating.As Nin mentioned its prime material for Hollywood to totally screw up.I wouldn't let the fact its subtitled put you off,there is an english dub track on the US Blu Ray (presume DVD as well ?) but that would totally ruin the film IMO.Gets an 8.5/10 from me,worth checking out if you fancy the look of it.

On another note the original post in this thread is looking a bit dated these days.

Notes On A Scandal 9/10

Damn good film, made by the 2 leads. Cate Blanchette being... Cate Blanchette, elegant, bohemian and unfulfilled. The accolades go to Judi Dench as always though, in a role unlike anything she's done since Lady MacBeth. She takes a woman, vicious, bitter and horribly distorted by loneliness and isolation and makes her sympathetic and likeable.
I thought I'd be bored but everything moves on at a rapid pace and the whole ship is very tight.

Traitor : Really good thriller based on an undercover operative who infiltrates a terrorist cell.The underrated Don Cheadle is excellent in the lead role.Its due to hit UK cinemas anytime now or it is available on DVD from US now.Please note the Blu Ray release is locked to Region A (North America),so will not play in standard UK machines.Worth a look IMO,certainly seen a lot worse 8/10.

Watchmen : Was one of my most anticipated films of 09 and have to say,found it a big disappointment.Unlike last years The Dark Knight in which the same 2 1/2 hour running time seemed to just fly by,for me this did not.It is cool in places, a bit like X - Men if Tarantino had made it ! but overall a found it an overlong bloated film which didn't really hold my attention.It may have been a case of expecting too much ? and its not terrible,its just I was expecting it to be great and I didn't think it was.Be interested to see what other people made of it.6.5/10.

Transsiberian : Its a bit slow to get going (like best part of an hour) but once it hits top gear this is a passable effort from The Machinist director Brad Anderson.Its a thriller set (unsurprisingly) on the transsiberian express.Its not amazing and its not worth buying but it is worth a rent IMO if you fancy the look of it.Another 6.5/10.

Yeah,I knew it was subtitled,doesn't bother me.After seeing Hollywood completely screw up the REC remake,reckon i'll check out the original.

Buyer beware, it's a Swedish language film with subtitles and it's quite different. It's also probably my favourite film in recent years. The American remake is going to butcher it horribly :(

Cool,will check that out.US Blu Ray is out now and region free BTW.Movietyme,Axelmusic etc. have it instock now.

Passengers : A bit rubbish to be honest,quite slow with a 'killer' twist that most people will work out 20 mins into the film.Still better than most of M.Night Shangabangalangs stuff though.But thats not saying a great deal 6/10.

Twilight : Amazing (if you're a 12 year old girl !),not so great if you're not.Won't bother watching the rest in the series when they come out 5/10.

Should be watching Watchmen on Monday with any luck.
