Got this with my Xbox a couple of weeks back only to ignore. For me it just didn't live up to all the hype and after discussing this with Notorious Biggles I though I would go back and give it another go. Well after playing it a second time round I must say its truly...amazing. After getting past where I got to last time (343 Guilty Spark) it was time to take on The Libary. After many people saying it was the worst level in the game I really cant see how. It was the level that introduced the hardcore shooter it is known for.

All those Flood just running at you its immense. At the moment im on the last bit with that massive 3km drive to the ship in a Warthog.

Great is all I can say now I see why its rated so highly.

You could always play the new Goldeneye, where you play as someone with a golden eye...

Seriously though, steal it or something, the controls may be a little odd, but it's still genius. Especially if you get an action replay as well.

Hopefully they'll release one of those handheld Megadrive things as an N64 one day, the I'll give it a go. I really do want to try it out!

And it is mainly the multiplayer on it that really draws me to the game. The weapon system, speed and handling is pretty much spot-on, for what I like. Tagging grenades is also a genius touch.

I only got my Xbox about 4 months ago, and before then I'd only played Halo properly as multiplayer. I've never played Goldeneye, to my shame, but I doubt it would stop me loving Halo as much as I do.

The level design is awful, though. At times it really made me hate Halo, despite being a good game. There seems to be two extremes and nothing more; either huge open spaces with littles clues as to where you go next, or highly concealed ships with identical room after identical room. Surely we wouldn't be having this argument if it was such an amazing game?

I don't know anyone who disagrees that Goldeneye is one of the N64's best titles, despite which console they favoured, but Halo just isn't special at all in my opinion, maybe you can blame that on not getting when it was first released, but if it is one of the best games ever it should really be a timeless experience.

To be honest, we wouldn't be having this argument unless it was an amazing game. Otherwise, everybody would be going "Meh, another FPS", but it has superior graphics, AI, level design, and ton's of other stuff that makes it stand out from the crowd. AND it was a launch game, which means that 2/3 years on, loads of people still play it, and it has not been surpassed in the genre on the console. Personally, it's one of my favourite multiplayer experiences, even if I have only played 4-way slayer and CTF. There, argument settled, you can all thank me.

Not the Halo argument again.
