I actually thought that it would be technically better than the PS2, boy was I wrong!!!

Hands up how many Nintendo fans tried to s**g off the PS2 for only having 4Mb of embedded VRAM for the Graphics synthesiser chip. Come on now don't be shy, oh well all of you may be interested enough to here that in an official interview on Gamespot ATI's VP of engineering announced that the Gamecube only has 3Mb of embedded VRAM, and it is no where near as fast as the PS2's DRDRAM, which runs at 800mghz and allows a much higher bandwidth in and out of the chip!!

Shame on you all, now apologize to Bonus, then go read the full interview at the address below!!

That's the thing about other people though. They're always wrong.

I've always said it's not worth slagging off other consoles based on specs, and those that do always fall down eventually.

I too, had an N64 and loved it!! I also love my PS2, and the point of this post isn't to s**g the GC, but to point out to all those Ninty fans who s**gged the PS2 for it's lack of VRAM that they were wrong!!

I'm not wrong about the N64.

I've played some great games for it, and will contiue to do so for the time being.

As long as I'm enjoying the games I'm playing there's nothing wrong with the consoles I'm playing them on.

The machine is very capable of good graphics, and the ATI chip inside it is supposed to be excellent, they have addressed the speed issue between the two by increasing the processor speed and decreasing the flipper speed (explained in the article). But where are all these guys who said the Gamecube would be better because it has more VRAM than the PS2?? They're all in hiding, because they know I was right!!

Fair Point Bonus, the PS2 has more V-Ram. Well unless Nintendo add more before release.

I think the GameCube will do well, its got support from big companies such as Namco ... who are going to bring one of their top fighting games to a console.

Namco Fighting games are a good indication of what a machine is capable of.

NJ, you also have missed the point, a couple of weeks ago, many Nintendo fans tried to decapitate me because I said the PS2's lack of VRAM didn't effect the graphics all that much because it was such efficient, fast memory, now these new revelations have come to pass about the VRAM insode the Gamecube, I want to hear what they have to say for themselves!! Obviously I will have been right when I said this didn't matter and those who were arguing would have been wrong!! Either that or they just concede that the PS2 is better than the Gamecube, either way, it's intended for those who slagged the PS2 for only having 4Mb VRAM!!

I'm not really bothered about the exact specs on consoles, just what the developers come up with, in terms of original games and squeezing the most out of the machine's capabilities. Nintendo are hardly likely to release a new console a year after the PS2 which is actually less powerful, especially if it needs to make up ground.

I dont want to p**s on anyones cornflakes, slagging off the opposition, becaise I hope the GC is a success (PS2 has no competition at all) but...

PS1 completely whipped the N64. the N64 had a much higher spec, was released after the PS1, had the SNES following, had some good games, but got whipped.

All of the above applies to the GC/PS2 war, but this time the PS2 has the higher spec. I know spec isnt everything in the console world (Shaaat it Gates!) its the games, but the PS1 beat the N64 on that too. PS2 will have loads of games at the GC launch, the price will surely fall to match the GC, and it plays DVDs and PS1 games too.

I am looking forward to the GC, but Iam very happy with my PS2, and the GC is going to have to be REALLY hot to make me put another box under the telly. Its the new arrivals they have to convince, and the winner is looking a bit obvious at the moment. Sorry!
