Just heard on the radio, then on tv when came home, "Manhunt" (game yeah)...they're trying to bann it because some kid who has incredibly stupid parents who bought it for them or needs serious help. Either way they need help. Wasn't sure about it when it was released, but just watched some gameplay footage of it and it looks great. So just bought me a copy. After watching the clip, i can't believe parents would let their kid have this game

I have read some professional papers on the subject of computer game violence and there is significant evidence circulating in the scientific community to suggest that violent games actually allow those with aggressive tendencies to vent these feelings safely in the same manner as a porn video will provide temporary release to a potential rapist.

The fact that people buy these games to participate in the violent experience shows that these tendencies are already prevalent in the human psyche and not implanted there by a blatantly illusory entertainment designed by people who also obviously already had these urges before the creation of the game.

Do the people who are calling "ban" think we should also censor the 10o clock news because it shows ACTUAL REAL scenes of gore and genocide evry night without fail. Maybe we should adopt the communist policy of keeping all knowledge of real world events from the people and substituting the daily bulletin with pre staged fictional feel good human interest pieces that promote that blissful ignorance and stagnation commonly called peace.

This whole uproar in the media has conveniently ignored the true motive for this despicable crime which as reported by the local police was robbery. The killer wanted money to buy drugs simple as that. It is laughable that papers like the Sun can one minute be claiming to be Britains moral guardians while showing semi clad tarts on page three. They tried this with carmageddon which was a crap game they turned into a best seller with their pointless campaign to ban it. In the final ironic twist it turns out that manhunt was found in the victims bedroom and not in the killers. When has real facts ever stood in the way of selling their turgid rags.

Firstly, this is great exposure for the game, as soon as a game is classed as overly violent the sales go through the roof, that might be why its sold out @ play, or either that they have done a Dixons and stop selling it. On to the more serious subject- the 14 year old being killed with a knife and hammer, I am sure other murders have been committed using these tools in the past and the link to the game is obvious but the 17 year old who done it is obviously nuts! Some guy done my way (london), not too long ago tied up his mate with a Hoover tube and stabbed him 48 or so times, but as no game link was made it only got to the local news. Games are violent but the truth is, any sane decent human being can make the distinction between computer games and real life! Plus, the game is rated an 18 yeah, the boy was 17 so what is the fuss with that, I know a 7 year old who plays Gta and it doesn’t look like it has had any adverse effects on him- I will be watching though- with Homer simpson concentrated eyes

Can someone please tell me why Play.com and SR have no bloody stock of Manhunt? It's been over a week since it went out of stock, and it don't normally take a week to re-stock :-|

You can blame anyone for anything this day but it not the games fault or rockstars fault the kid was probably gonna kill someone anyways and saw the way in manhunt and did it that way instead of the way he was going to at the start. Some may say the kids where to young to play it because the gore and adult themes where too much but im 14 and that game made me not want to kill some one. So I would be blameing the parents for not setting down a law in the house or maybe the kid was the problem you dont know.

How come manhunt gets all the blame for CORRUPTING THE MINDS OF YOUTH.
Has no-one played Postal 2? You can shove a cat on the end of a shotgun, shoot a priest then urinate on his dead body.
