in a few years when all the new consoles are out. Will you go out and buy an xbox 2 or will you be swayed by sony or nintendos offerings?
PS3, GC2 or xbox 2. This is the question. I suppose I will pick the console thats the most powerful and has the best games. This will quite probably be the xbox 2. But ps2 fanboys are claiming that the ps3 is going to have more power than xbox2. So how will Gc2 fare in this hard market? Their may not even be a GC2. I mean, sales of GC aren't great at the moment so will their be any point in nintendo releasing another console, possibly losing alot of money. They already have a strong grip over the handheld market, but again this could all change. Sonys new psp could dominate and nintendo may just completely go bust. So what are everyones views on this?

When something is 'compatable' it means it is fully usable with the system in question.

For example an Xbox disc is compatable with an Xbox, but not a Playstation 2.

It's like with DVDs, you need to have Region 2 to play on a standard UK DVD player. If they're not Region 2 encoded (i.e. from America, Japan, etc) then they're not compatable.

I hope that's cleared that up for you.

Backwards compatability is the ability to play previous system media on the most up to date system.

So the Playstation 2 playing Playstation games is backwards compatability.
The Game Boy Advance playing Game Boy and Game Boy Color games is backwards compatability.
And as a poor example: Windows XP playing the odd game released before 2003 is backwards compatability.

However:

That isn't backwards compatability. If Xbox 2 games played on Xbox that would be a bloomin' miracle.

I understand what you're trying to get at, but your original post was totally contradictory and incorrect:

which is bad news for all x box gamers.

Sorry Bullet bad example(because it's getting released on xbox1), but do you understand the point I was trying to make? The fact remains, the x box may not be compatable with the x box2, meaning you can't play any x box game on x box 2.

Correct me if i'me wrong (I know your gonna anyways, but I do really want to know the difference)but on my understanding if you can play halo1 on x box2 then thats compatable correct? but if you were to play halo 2 on the origonal x box isn't that backwards comatability? there is a difference between the 2 and I never did I mention the backwards bit.
