Calling him "fat" was a bit out of order.

Ah, another whiny attempt to change the subject, with what you imagine to be a cutting insult thrown into the mix. Funny, you only complain about people going off topic once you've been utterly owned. Which is odd, as you seem to believe that you can go off topic whenever you like (or does your IB is Guilty 'victory' play a VITAL part in this thread...)

Thing is, I do care Bell; played Doom and Doom 2 and loved 'em and I'm looking forward to Doom 3 (though I'll need to beef up my machine a little...). However, my point in this thread is that you're proving what a fat, worthless hypocrite you are. You spend post after post painting yourself to be the last bastion of common sense and pure, true values. You show an absolute intolerance of anyone who breaks a single law. Then you're caught out in your attitude toward illegal downloads. Suddenly, you can't change the subject fast enough and you're doing your utmost to pretend that no, you never use downloads (have you ever heard the phrase "Methinks the bloater doth protest too much"?), and lord knows what other lies to try and preserve your self-imagined image as the ultimate law abiding citizen. In other words, I care about a chunkshuffling mummy's boy telling anyone who disagrees with his "tough stance" on law that they're wasters and failures, whilst he thinks he can break the law with impunity. Do you see?

If you want to carry this on in the Life forum, that's okay by me. Personally, I don't mind where you admit to your hypocrisy and lies. I'll happily own you in whichever forum you prefer.

But the actual point is that you don't care, Light.

You just see this as another chance to whittle away your hours arguing because you're only ability to create a topic seems to be to post copied and pasted things you wrote ages ago.

If you want to talk about Doom 3, go ahead, otherwise keep it to the life forum, or your head...

Heh. Wow, what a great victory for you! I mean, that was totally worth being made to look a fool, and giving anyone ammo to take the proverbial out of you for the rest of your natural life. God, the only way you could have made it worse for yourself is by getting warned and then spending a week wailing and whining about it as if it was the most important thing in your life. In fact, you'd only make yourself look even more ridiculous than you do already if you stomped away claiming you've never been so insulted and that you'll never be back.

What's that? You did? Oh...

Amazing how far you'll stretch the truth and clamp your mittens over your ears whilst squealing how perfect you are. If IB was banned, how come he was posting one the very same day with a new username? Cos y'know, that doesn't sound very banned to me.

So anyway, back to the topic; first you say piracy isn't a problem. Then when you've spent a couple of posts backpeddling once you realised that your position as defender of truth, justice, the American way, and big pies was under threat. I'm intrigued; what's you next post going to be? Are you going to tell us how you personally are responsible for reporting anyone who illegally downloads, you jiggling joke of a hypocrite?

Yes the IB is guilty thing was almost as funny as you and Light claiming he "wasn't really banned" - of course he wasn't, that's why his username remained unused for so long... and why "using another person's username" etc is now on the list of offences on the site rules.

In the eyes of the law, I'm a hardened criminal for my pirating ways.

But the serious piracy is overseas.

And one look on eBay would tell you that.

I think when someone can buy Seasons 1-9 inclusive of X Files, from Hong Kong, and still get change from £100 (official retail price of that lot in the UK would be anywhere from 500-800 depending on retailer) then that is a bit of a major problem. Same with anime, how can those few producers in the UK expect to establish a business with Anime DVD selling 4 episodes a disc at 15-20 when you could buy 26 episodes for 20, again from Hong Kong? Take the soon to be released Battle Royale 2 - there are a few genuine R3 versions around, but most are copies, and they've sold, so when the DVD does make it out the sales will be a lot less, and next time there is a slightly obscure/different film that comes out maybe it doesn't get released because those sales were crap. Right now you can also get Fahrenheit 9/11 (Moore's new one) on copied DVD on eBay, and it sells, and it's obviously going to harm those cinemas which chose to show it, and the eventual official DVD release. And consider this, Fahrenheit isn't on Kazaa, not when I checked anyway, yet somehow a copy ended up in Hong Kong.

And you're saying this is not a serious problem?

Same with CD's, and other more mainstream DVDs. Many of the people selling them are eBay powersellers, which means a turnover in excess of US $10000 a month, now even assuming that they are just in that $10000 that is a minimum of $120000 coming in, eBay has charged listing fees, and final value fees, so a good 5-7% of that is profit for eBay, again minimum $6000, and suddenly it becomes rather obvious why eBay is turning a blind eye.

By comparison the copies in the UK people make are amateur and poor compared to the stuff coming out of Hong Kong, Taiwan and China. If the industry and the authorities want to seriously crack down then they have the wrong continents to start from.

And BTW, I regularly do buy PC games from the US if I really want them - last one before this was Joint Operations (think the US had it 2-3 weeks earlier, cant't remember) - and I actually made reference to the fact my review was of an import when I posted it on SR page for the game.

Wow, I totally got showed there huh?

Read the thread Bell.
Then go read "Michael Moore" to see exactly where this is headed, as did the "Bush Vs Kerry" thread, where that mean cabal of bullying communists said bad things to you again.

You really do think you're picked on because you try and shine the truthtorch onto world issues don't you?
A noble martyr, suffering the slings and arrows of misfortune from miserable lefties that cannot handle the awesome power of your posts.

Ok, we'll play along until you spam "IBi s guilty" everywhere like an enraged Rain Man.
And I'm only too happy to trade barbs with ya Bell, because your utter lack of humour or sense of irony means it's like punching a retard in the face with a comedy-size boxing glove.

No it's not strange at all.
Because El Robin and "countless others" don't position themselves as the upholders of moral decency and continually post about how so-and-so should be shown zero tolerance for smoking pot/visiting a prostitute.
It's your holier-than-thou, know-it-all attitude that means people (and not just myself & Light) take great pleasure in taking your posts apart until you leave in a huff for a couple of weeks before returning and doing exactly the same thing.

This thread is exactly the same as the one about Michael Moore and exactly the same as the one about Kapos and exactly the same as the one about Halofan.
Instead of just ignoring or saying "Yeah? So what", you spin tale after tale with more and more implausible reasons for why you are correct and would never ever do anything wrong/make a mistake until you end up tangled and unable to remember what you've said originally.

You're now saying that you have a US imported game bought from Ebay.
Despite saying that "Problem is that the piracy is overseas, that's the serious stuff that really does fund all sorts of illegal activities. And nearly all of it is now being sold over the internet, and on eBay in particular."

You'll notice Mattribute and Damarus come right out and say "Yep, downloaded it and so what?" with zero comment from anybody.
But it's because it's you that you get picked up on about it.
Instead of just being blase, you've yanked Ebay out of your ass and are waving that around to deflect from the fact you've been saying that piracy of videogames isn't really that pressing an issue - despite your hardline Victorian stance on other lawbreakers.

So it's ok for Belldandy to break the law, or consider Videogame Piracy not really a crime, but everything else is?
Y'see *that* is the crux of this issue, as I've pointed out twice already.

Not where you got a game from, but your seemingly shifting position on crime and what constitutes illegal.
Got it?
