Mainly as Machie and I seem to spend half the time on the WLT chatting about Doctor Who...

Here's my current favourites;

Best Classic Episode: Genesis of the Daleks (Tom Baker)

Best Classic Doctor: Late 7th Doctor - when the stories got darker and the character really developed into something more than just a Timelord.

Best DVD: The Invasion

Best New Doctor Who Episode: Army of Ghosts / Doomsday

I just hope Doctors stick around longer than just one or two years. It was annoying when Christopher left after just one, making him the shortest living Doctor. David is likely to leave after 3 series is it?

Tom Baker was the man when he took it on for 7 years right? I hope they give us a new qwirky 40s+ Doctor, instead of some handsome early 30s who falls in love with assistants.

Oh and I really dont want that guy from Full Monty to be the next Doctor. Lets go with a different look this time.

No doubt they'll make a loophole in that though.

But I don't want to know about her family =( we did all that with Rose. Did we find out about the families of other assistants pb? *pout*

Maybe I just want the series to be more like it was in the past =( I liked not being able to relate to Doctor Who's assistants with their family problems. I liked not seeing London in half of the series. I liked that the tardis wasn't stuck in 2005/6/7.

I just wish Doctor Who would leave these jobs for James Bond, he's suppose to save the world in this present time. He should go off and fight Davros on Skaro =)

Oh and when he does give up being the Doctor, can we have an older guy? I thought the first 4 Doctors were pretty good and they weren't in their early 30ies ^^

The doctor never had romantic feelings for his assistants in the original series, apart from Romana. Occassionally he'd meet someone on his travels, but it wasn't dwelled upon. Aztecs was the first instance of this, if I remember correctly (very good story too).

The 8th Doctor started it all with Grace, but now he has more of an excuse, he's lonely, everyone he knows is gone. I think you'll warm to Martha, I think she's far more intelligent than Rose and it's only been a few episodes. It took me that long to warm to Rose as well.

2 Dalek episodes and then we get to know her family a bit more, though.

I didn't really like the last episode and I'm not too keen on this new girl. She seems to be another Rose.

I really hope they dont start to fall in love. pb you've seen far more Doctor Whos than me. Is it common for the Doctor to fall in love with his companions?

I'd like to see new people picked up who have nothing to do with other companions (Ricky, Rose, Rose's Mum etc). That dalek boy was one. But then I found him annoying so I'm glad he didnt stay long. Doesnt he still have a whole in his head?

I suppose the rest of you have read news about them wanting to do Doctor Who in the States and get Rose to be in it. Hangon have we travelled back in time? Is this 1996? We tried that already. Lets just keep it a Brit show and if the Yanks want to watch it, then they can watch our version.

Check out the cover of the new Radio Times. What a way to spoil any attempt at a surprise. Damn them.
