Right, i've just set up a XP-'98 Network, one comp with a super duper graphics card, the other with a moderate chipset. The games we've played/'got to work so far' are RedAlert2, AOE, and DungeonKeeper2. So can anyone recommend any games that we should get? Oh and has anyone managed to get Half-Life or any of its variants running across a network? As i am having a few difficulties... Cheers in advance

If i change the IP adresses wont that screw up the network? When i tried to run HL it came up with a message about Incompatible Protocols or something similar.

From what i can see the TCP/IP one is already installed, with my Ethernet adapter name after it. So do i need to set up the IP's then?

Hmm, sounds like you've not got TCP/IP installed properly if you're having trouble with HL. I know for a fact that you can get AOE to run through something called IPX instead, and presumably you can with RA and Dungeon Keeper also. It's probably OK on the XP machine since when I got my network running through XP it seemed to sort itself out but I used to use 98 and that wasn't so helpful.
From what I remember, you have to go into control panel -> network or something similar and you should get up a window showing a bunch of network protocols you've got installed. Click on 'add' find the TCP/IP one and run through the wizard to install it and you may need to get some IP addresses set up in there.
Er that's kind of vague but I can't really remember exactly what you had to do in 98.
Are you running it through a hub/router or is it a computer to computer thing? If it's the latter, you'll be best off setting up IP's on each machine manually, using 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2 which you can access through the TCP/IP properties of the network settings.
Um, I think that's it.
