Right, i've just set up a XP-'98 Network, one comp with a super duper graphics card, the other with a moderate chipset. The games we've played/'got to work so far' are RedAlert2, AOE, and DungeonKeeper2. So can anyone recommend any games that we should get? Oh and has anyone managed to get Half-Life or any of its variants running across a network? As i am having a few difficulties... Cheers in advance

Fortunately countersrike has most of the updates, so you can play HL deathmatch via CS custom games...

So far we've established that we can play all of the mulitplayer games with version number 1.5 (CS, TFC etc.) but not version 1...

That is weird.
There's a way of finding out the version number of the exe, I think if you right click hl.exe it should be visible under one of the tabs that comes up. It's a 4 digit number separated by dots something like 1.1.0.8 from what I remember. See if you can find that and see if they're the same on each computer.

Well ok, what I'd do is to reinstall both of them, I'm sure that's the message that pops up for different HL versions. Er, so reinstall them both first.
But I'm confused as to why that should happen if they're both installed from the same disc and left untouched...

Oh right, sounds like you don't have them running the same version of Half Life.
You can check somehow.
Don't remember how though.
