Oh no you didn't!
Anyway, I fail to see how anything which was born of a gimmick can be the best racer on the XBOX. I'd like to try it to test out my theory, but, for me, it all seems a bit short-term.
I don't want normal racing I'd rather have the hyper-real RSC2 and Burnout 3 because they are more over the top and interesting. If I wanted realism I'd have gone for something like an F1 game.
PGR2 was the first decent online racer involving cars on the xbox, if RSC2 had been released before it I think its sales may have been significantly less.
As something that's nearly a simulation it's great but so is the shuttle launch simulation. However simulation doesn't always mean interesting.
PGR2 is quite frankly too clinical, devoid of character and far too boring.
I doubt I'll ever be buying PGR3.
well, I'll sleep on it.

Me never playing?! Have you deleted me or something? I've been clocking up way too much time on Xbox, Live and off line recently. I've passed the 100 hour mark in PGR2 ages ago.

It has a never ending multiplayer. Beyond that, there is masses to do in single player. There is 100+ events in the Kudos World Series, with Platinums to go back for until eternity. There is also the 40 in Arcade Mode, along with all the Car Challenges and Track Challenges. Not to mention all the Ghost Challenges every week on Live. In short, there is always something new to do on PGR2, right down to racing Volvo XC90s on the Nurburgring. It takes 9 and a half minutes incidentally.

That could be Burnout 3 from your description. There are fewer cars, fewer differences between them and the tracks are bright, but bland nonetheless. As for variety, well I've driven really fast a few times, I've taken some people out and I did some big crashes.
If truth be told, the racing mode isn't up to all that much. Any game where scraping every wall in sight is just about as fast as driving properly doesn't make for much of a racer. Burnout is all about the crashes. Thankfully, it does them very well, like some sort of wingless Rush Suicide game.
Of course you couldn't have the aftertouch in multiplayer games, all I meant was that it was a shame that arguably the best bit of the whole game is lost to the multiplayer mode. I know it couldn't work, but it doesn't mean it's not a loss.
I do like it, more as I've played it. But it's only got 15 or so hours at the most to the single player. Road Rage on Live shall be good, but for normal racing, PGR2 all the way.

I think the online racing is pure class. There's nothing better than playing against people of similar skill and having a bumper to bumper close race for 3 laps. It's definitely one game I have gone back to over and over again.
Guess it's not for everyone though.
Also, I've heard from quite a few people that the music's a bit rubbish, so it's just as well I bought some new albums today :)
