See what you think and, I'm sad to say I'm not suprised:
"It tosses plot at us in ungraceful chunks and just lays there, inert, like we're watching someone play a game for us with a cheat guide open and steering them through. There's no tension. Everything is just handed to Lara, and we're never once engaged, because we never once actually know what the hell is happening.
Why is Noah Taylor in this film? Why is Chris Barrie in this film? Why does Iain Glenn give such an incredibly painful performance as the bad guy in this film?Where is the sense of fun?
TOMB RAIDER is neither the end of modern cinema nor the guilt-free pleasure machine that lifelong mammary fan Roger Ebert paints it as. It is a lifeless movie from a truly horrible commercial filmmaker. It is a misstep in the starring career of a promising lead actress. And it's a major setback for two producers who have a great slate of material. I hope this ends up being an expensive lesson that spurs everyone involved to do better things in the future."
"This film is ugly, boring and uninspired.
In a single shot, they manage to defecate not only upon the beauty of Angkor Watt, but in a blink…. They voided upon Venice…. In a single transition they made both places look like total logs.
The plotline was overly convoluted and badly told onscreen. There are random left turns that are not surprising, just boring. There is no sexuality in this movie… Plenty of alleged chest, but no titillation.
The lights are never on in TOMB RAIDER… except to over light all the sets and make them look cheap and fake…. People should be imprisoned for making Angkor Watt look pedestrian and ugly. One of mankind’s greatest achievements and it looks like crap here…. How do you do that? Is there a class in film school somewhere that teaches one how to make beauty plain? Does it come before or after the class on making sure to WINK at the camera every 3 minutes?
Do not waste a dime on this! "

So many cool, smaller films that I took more from than just sitting there going "Cool, explosions". And all films that I recommend 100% to watch.
Not that my opinion counts for much, just saying I think people will like them.
The KKK, a touchy subject but handled really, really well.
"He violated a flaming cross!"
The Soggybottom boys.."Iiiiii am a maaaaaan...of constant sorrowwwww...I've seen trouuuuuuubles all my day"
"He got a midget with a broom, we can't compete with that"
And One Night...ending with a shootout to YMCA.
Top.
John Goodman is a great actor, like Douglas he chooses smaller films that are fun.
The Big Lebowski, another perfect film.
Come on people, what other movies have you seen that are not advertised on burger wrappers?
Another film great of this year was Remeber the Titans!! Sensil Washington really shone in that movie!! And then there is The Skulls from last November, one of the best films I have EVER seen!!!
See? (this is to those that dont get our point here)
The Dish and Wonderboys and Crouching Tiger.
Little films that have had zero press (Tiger didnt at the start, and then only 100% positive reviews) yet those that do see them think they're pretty good.
I like it when I find a film I dont know much about, havent seen the billboards and....what to do know? It's quite good really.
There are so many of these movies, but they dont get to many screens around the country.
I'm lucky spending most of my time in London, I can choose from loads of smaller cinemas so I can maybe see the smaller films with less effort.
These little films dont get the exposure they should, and I think that's a genuine shame.
I would much rather go to watch Wonder Boys or The Dish or One Night at McCools than some studio Mcfilm.
Take Oh Brother Where Art Thou?
Brilliant, faultless filmaking from The Coen Bros and it came to some cinemas for a week only.
But I can still go watch The Mummy Returns, almost 6 weeks after it's release.
A shame, but at least we can use things like The Net and this forum to shout about those little films we think should be shared
The Dish is brilliant, a simple, gently

That should be "Gentle little story with no huge effects"
What a tool.
Sorry

"The Dish."
Hopefully going to see

"Wonder Boys?"
Yup. I loved that film...
That rocked. Micheal Douglas, again, doing something not entirely flattering.
The Dish is brilliant, a simple, gently little story with no hug effects. Just touching, funny and well made.
A small community in Australia are responsible for broadcasting the Apollo moon landing to the Southern Hemisphere.
But it goes a bit wrong and they lose track of it.
"This is the guy from NASA, he knows everything about Apollo"
"Does he know where it is?"
(Sheep in the night) "Baaaaah"
Security Gaurd "Who goes there?"
