It's a bloody chunky thing isn't it.
I haven't got LIVE yet but I might not, I'm not entirely sure this is a good purchase. I've played all 3 games a bit but I keep going back to Second Sight on the Gamecube.
As a Gamecube owner I do miss a really good First Person shooter, and as great as Timesplitters is the idea of owning Halo was something I couldn't resist. I also miss out on realistic racing games as a Gamecube owner.
The sad thing is, now I've played 2 games that are the top of their genre I now feel slightly empty.
For starters Project Gotham is a good racing title but I've never really been able to enjoy these sort of games.
Grabbed by the Gholies is as crap as I remember.
I played Halo for a bit but I've come to realise that this is just another FPS. And one that doesn't have the depth of Perfect Dark either. It is the finest all round FPS of this generation but it doesn't do anything special at all. In fact at times I felt the urge to play Metroid Prime, something I haven't done in an age.
Anyway enough about the criticism, I'm sure I'll get into all of the above games and I'm sure I'll enjoy Blinx, The Suffering, Jet Set Radio: Future and whatever else my mate plans to lend me.
The console has 3 weeks to impress or it goes back. Mainly because of my 30 day no quibble return policy.

Ditto, which is why Conker is fantastic. :)

But now, I'm tired of Mario and the other traditional characters, with their chirpy cheers and childlike behaviour.
I find it utterly compelling to read these kind of posts that slate the Xbox and praise other consoles, or visa versa.
I think you set off on the wrong foot in the world of Xbox's, It's probably best you get the more quirky titles that might entice you to enjoy the console more.
Oddworld Munch's Oddysee (twisted oddworld adventure/platformer, pretty decent, you can get it cheap on the classics range)
Jet Set Radio Future: Get. it. now.
Can't be bothered to think of more.
Oh, Blinx.
Most people will slate me for this, But I found Blinx OK. Not good, not bad, not Mario, just OK.
Get it if you can find it cheap.

You are joking? No offence to the X-box but their is barely any essential games for me here.
People seem to be confused about my stance on Halo. It's a really nicely constructed game that's fun to play... but unlike Metroid Prime, GTA, Pikmin etc... it is just the finest example of its type rather than a game that stands by itself.
Which isn't a criticism... It's just if any developer put all their effort into creating a straight forward FPS then I can guarentee Halo would be a distant memory and have so much competiton (and it has s**t loads as it is).
Hedfix you are right, I do own an X-box... there is also a PS2 in my house... I have a Dreamcast set up besides my Gamecube (of which there are 2 in the house).
The X-box is a test, if I owned a rival system and was tempted away then obviously Nintendo isn't all that. How can I call myself a massive Nintendo fan if I haven't even let myself experience other systems.
The sad fact with the X-box is that these games aren't my thing. It's like when Rickoss keeps asking me if I got "such and such" for the Gamecube, some third party action shooter... I say "no" or "yeah but I haven't played it much". The reason is to do with the way these games hook me. Metroid Prime despite being a totally original experience is a shooter no matter how you look at it, and the game just losses it's hold on me after a while. This is because I get bored of these games, the puzzles are there to extend life span and are rarely fun at all.
If I had to choose between a brand new Mario game or other "coo coo fairy cloud land Nintendo game" and Halo... then the fairy game gets it. Not because the fairy game is better, but because the Nintendo games... the Luigi's Mansions, the Pokemons, the Pikmins, the Marios and Zeldas.... I play them till the end and I never get bored.
Very VERY few third and second party titles are played till the end by me because I get bored of them. I have to force myself to finish it.
The only third party games I've completed in the last year are XIII, Prince of Persia and Beyond Good and Evil... (notice a pattern here?)
Hopefully I can add Second Sight to that.
I find Nintendo games addictive, amusing and just wonderful to play. Hence the Gamecube. I will probably stick by the X-box, because I do have a fondness to Conker.
Also Live play and the Harddisk played a big factor and soon it was time to ditch the cube after realising I hadn't played it for 5 months.
"Teh Gamcube sux coz it has fluffy cloud gamez and no gamez wiv blood, guns or ninjas."
Very clever.
I really don't know why people make such a big deal about this aspect of gaming, I mean, whether a game can be construed as being kiddie or childish doesn't really make a single bit of difference to me. Am I cool if I play a "kiddie" game? No. Am I cool if I play an online game whilst wearing a headset? No. Am I cool if I play any type of video game? No. So it really makes no difference, as long as the game is fun why should it matter if you're controlling a fat happy plumber or a violent killing machine?

Yep. Live killed my cube dead in one go. Also the controller really isn't my idea of goodness as far as serious FPS games go, can't imagine playing Ghost Recon with it for instance and it made playing AUF more of a chore than the game itself.

On either.
New Zelda looks good, and Resi 4 looks amazing, but that doesn't cut it when I can experience so much more on Xbox.
