It's a bloody chunky thing isn't it.
I haven't got LIVE yet but I might not, I'm not entirely sure this is a good purchase. I've played all 3 games a bit but I keep going back to Second Sight on the Gamecube.
As a Gamecube owner I do miss a really good First Person shooter, and as great as Timesplitters is the idea of owning Halo was something I couldn't resist. I also miss out on realistic racing games as a Gamecube owner.
The sad thing is, now I've played 2 games that are the top of their genre I now feel slightly empty.
For starters Project Gotham is a good racing title but I've never really been able to enjoy these sort of games.
Grabbed by the Gholies is as crap as I remember.
I played Halo for a bit but I've come to realise that this is just another FPS. And one that doesn't have the depth of Perfect Dark either. It is the finest all round FPS of this generation but it doesn't do anything special at all. In fact at times I felt the urge to play Metroid Prime, something I haven't done in an age.
Anyway enough about the criticism, I'm sure I'll get into all of the above games and I'm sure I'll enjoy Blinx, The Suffering, Jet Set Radio: Future and whatever else my mate plans to lend me.
The console has 3 weeks to impress or it goes back. Mainly because of my 30 day no quibble return policy.

Doesn't mean they're any good, though. ;-)

True enough. For every adult game on the Cube there's about 5 on the xbox.

There is none.
and yet you still have yourself a brand new Xbox...
Or
Fluffkin the Pixie's U-rated Adventures in Cloud Town?
Seriously, the only reason I got an Xbox was for Live, to be honest, and it's one of the best gaming 'things' ever. It's not that bad offline, I exaggerated, but (at least until this Christmas) the Xbox online is worth far more than offline, in my own view.
On a side note, Goatboy, since when was the Cube all 'boing-boing' and happyfunfun? I've played a decent number of excellent 'adult' games that don't damage your masculinity too much.........
AND on another note, I saw a vid for Halo the other day, of when it was 3rd person and had big beasties running about going rarg! The lasers sounded rubbish, but it was interesting to see it.
Although

Yeah but c'mon, Halo was a launch title. For 2 1/2yrs ago, it wassomething new, not many FPS had vehicles or squads helping at certain points, enemy AI or even the amusing response from the grunts etc.
It's showing it's age now, but personally I think Halo 2 is going to be awesome - but if you don't like Halo that much then that's your call, nobody says you have to.
Personally I think xbox is fantastic, it offers me what I want - whereas the Gamecube just didn't have any depth for me, and the boing-boing-happy-happy music/graphics/style just irritated me beyond belief.
Each to their own
