Only time will tell...
The incentive to continue playing was to buy cars you could only race in limited events and for what, to take them online and be bored even more?
Nothing comes close to the original Gran Turismo, the second was possibly on a par. The 3rd was only marred by stupidly long races but there were enough in there for this to be overlooked.

I've spent ages on that game and I've yet to find it dull. I have a few folk on my friends list who've also played it for hundreds of hours and they don't find it dull yet. Racing games are my favourite genre, and being able to play them in multiplayer and actually beat real people is probably the best bit. In the absence of 3 live-in friends, Live will do.

Sega Rally, arcade.

You are joking right? PGR2 is the closest thing there is to a perfect driving game. There are simply no flaws in it. Well, there is a glitch in KGB Corner when played at night with certain cars, with them being at certain places at certain times.

For your sake I hope your right...
Never been massively intrested in really realistic car games, so the GT series never really did much for me.
MSR on the Dreamcast, now that was how a single player racing game should be.

They'd better do, because if they might...
*shakes fist*
The thing is, it'll probably be GAME that get to give the demos out - and I refuse to buy from GAME
They were originally saying that in online play if you crash into your opponents then you get a 10 second speed penalty...where's the fun in that?
GT games are far too dull for my liking. 100 laps of the same track to win a crappy car? fack off!
Forza looks intresting though, mainly for the online customisation, I look forward to painting childish swear words on my car and driving into all the Frenchies. Apparently they're giving a demo away with all pre-orders of Halo 2 in the States, hopefully they'll carry that on over here.
As for Forza Motorsport, everyone said the same about Sega GT and then Project Gotham 2, neither went close to the original two GT games and for me GT3 was still a better than both despite the ridiculous length of it.
Sony and Polyphony have a special something with the GT series and it feels different to every other driving game out there. We will see in a few weeks time exactly what is going to happen, I will bet my left testicle on it though, GT4 will rock, absolutely rock.
I'm not saying online is essential, but it's definitely a big bonus. Also, Sony/Polyphony have been plugging the online aspect of GT4 for ages, making it one of the biggest points of interest in the new game. Now they've gone and dropped it all of a sudden, when lots of people were getting excited about it. Just like they did the dirty on Europe with the HDD - and RE:Outbreak.
It'll still be a good Single player no doubt, but if Forza can deliver, I know which one I'd rather buy.
Providing it sticks to the formula that made the first 2 great then there should be no problems. My only complaint with A-Spec was the number of laps and long distance events. Aside from that it felt like any GT game only with some fantastic rally sections yet to be bettered by any stand alone Rally game.
