Metal/Heavy Metal/Industrial/Darkwave/Whatever other crappy genre the media has lazily labelled a group of bands with.
Punk/Heavier Pop can be included too if you feel like mentioning some stuff that's not quite 'metal'.
So, any new stuff out there that's worth a listen?

I have heard them.

Yeah, I have that video too and it's awesome.
I saw some coverage from Download of Slayer on Kerrang inbetween all the lame whiny emo bands that Kerrang seems to love. They were awesome there. But the sound was kinda muddy... I think butchering your open E string with 16ths at 200bpm might work better when you're not tuned down to C#.
The problem with the whole Reign In Blood album is that it's sounds too small like you said Chr1s. If it was mixed like Seasons In The Abyss it'd be awesome.
I have to stop using the word awesome.

Hmm...
And on a side note,
Vader: Slayer On Steroids

That's the problem with a lot of metal, the recorded version of a song is often over-produced and it makes it sound somehow...smaller.
Slayer are awesome anyway, but live, they are outstanding.

Angel of Death is amazing live, though admittedly the video I have of it isn't perfect: Pretty crap sound quality, Paul Bostaph's drumming isn't quite to the standards of Dave Lombardo... still, the switching lead guitar part is awesome and it's properly recorded, from an Ozzfest some years ago.
Slayer: Venom played by competent musicians.
For those who are interested.

They don't really, they're just modern rock.
They get classed as metal because it's some people use it innacurately as an umbrella term for anything involving aggression and guitars.
And Slayer aren't *that* heavy, really. I mean, they are, kindof. Something like Angel Of Death should be insanely heavy and it would be if it was live, but the way it's mixed really takes the edge off. In my opinion. It just sounds way too... uhm.. I'm not sure... thin... to be all that heavy.
Because RATM are like Public Enemy with guitars.
