The "General Games Chat" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
Let us take a quick look at those in with a chance:
Nintendo: Their Gamecube, previously known as the Dolphin. Due to be released early next year here with a crop of familiar names in new games.
Microsoft: The Xbox has a lot of money behind it, and will be promoted well for it's launch here early next year.
Sony: The Playstation 2 is already out there and making an impression, but is it good enough to hold off the competition?
Now here are a few of my views on the subject.
Gamecube: Games are mostly orientated around what kids want, with more Mario, more Donkey Kong, and much, much more of the same. Gamecube samecube I say!
Xbox: Games look impressive, and if there are enough games it should blow the competition away.
Playstation 2: When the Xbox arrives this will be old hat. So far it has had some decent games, but lacked real innovation.
So personally, I think that Microsoft are onto a winner with the Xbox!
> Superb fun.
Is it open ended? ... My attention span with open ended games is remarkably short... (I'm much better with a overal goal to work toward)
Sim City on a smaller scale mixed with The Sims without that annoying "go to the loo/get some food" time wasting.
I would heartily recommend it, with one word of warning:
If you do get it, download the patch from here or poptop.com as they were a tad too good with the copy protection programme and you need to patch it to get it to start.
If a gentle, funny and morally dubious strategy/building sim is your thing, get it as soon as possible.
If only to arrest a priest, have him denounced as a heretic and then shot.

Whats Tropico like man?
Mind you, I quite enjoy console wars topics when they're well written, and aren't too biased.
It's also sometimes quite fun to read the rants of the retarded.
I like my PS2, havent touched it in a couple of weeks though.

Good console, just seems to be a DVD player for a while now

It is a topic regarding the console wars,

Sorry Meka, I was just trying to help out a newbie. I'll make sure I get my facts straight next time.

Just to proove not all PS2 games are sequals, I've compiled a list...
:)
It is a topic regarding the console wars, yes, but it not to be tarred with the same brush as it is looking at a previously unexplored (by myself, anyway) angle of it.
Now this is nothing against Meka, but isn't it fair to either point out the fact, that there are too many console war topics, to Meka as well, or to leave this newbie alone.
I am not going to post anything else on this topic, because I am also fed up with these types of topics, but let the newbie be for now. He will learn from his mistakes (hopefully).
