Let us take a quick look at those in with a chance:
Nintendo: Their Gamecube, previously known as the Dolphin. Due to be released early next year here with a crop of familiar names in new games.
Microsoft: The Xbox has a lot of money behind it, and will be promoted well for it's launch here early next year.
Sony: The Playstation 2 is already out there and making an impression, but is it good enough to hold off the competition?
Now here are a few of my views on the subject.
Gamecube: Games are mostly orientated around what kids want, with more Mario, more Donkey Kong, and much, much more of the same. Gamecube samecube I say!
Xbox: Games look impressive, and if there are enough games it should blow the competition away.
Playstation 2: When the Xbox arrives this will be old hat. So far it has had some decent games, but lacked real innovation.
So personally, I think that Microsoft are onto a winner with the Xbox!
It's brilliant, really is.
You can download a bot programme that allows you to play offline and practice.
Sniper rifles are cool, and some machine guns have wicked distance on them.
Get it and have fun
I enjoy it, and sometimes I do ok.

It was just that with Blue Shift being released next week...
which has the high definition upgrade for the game...
I was thinking og picking up Half-Life Generations (since its about 15 quid these days...
But Ive never played counter strike... and havnt got a clue whats would be going on...
I was wondering if I could pick up any tips on how to shot people in the back of the head from very far away (you never know when it'll becaome useful in real life either)

Just ok. But that doesn't mean I dont think it's one of the best multiplayer games out there, I uninstalled Unreal Tournament, it's just not the same anymore.
However, I need to work on my "Stopping bullets with my face" and "Reload in front of heavily armed opponents" tactics.
Been PC all the way with Black and White,
> Desperado, Tropico, Counterstrike.
How good are you at counter strike?
At the moment, there is only one 128-bit console available, the PS2. Ultimately, this is a good console. It suffered a little at launch with a lack of absolutely stunning games, but then again, it didn't have much competition, so this didn't really matter too much. At the moment, superb games are now starting to pop up, with Extermination being released today, which is actually a really good game, and more just around the corner, things are starting to look up for the PS2.
But, can the PS2 compete against the likes of Xbox and Gamecube. Of course it can. I am not saying it will be the best. That can't be decided until the other to 128-bit consoles are released, and start to strut their stuff.
Both the Xbox and GC have a lot to offer. Their launch games look good, especially GC's. with the likes of Luigi's Mansion and others that seem to be getting some people on these forums quite worked up. The GC does have an edge over Xbox though. It will be released three days earlier, and will be cheaper. The three day gap isn't much of an advantage, but the difference in price is, and this could work in Nintendo's favour.
When both of these consoles are finally released, Sony will drop the price of the PS2 again most likely, in order to compete, and the PS2 will put up a hard fight.
I am not going to pick a victor, because the Xbox and GC haven't been released yet. Until then, maybe these 'console war' topics should halt, at least until there is much more information about the two new consoles to actually base a comparison.
Why not resolve all the bickering by sending all the hardcore Playstation, Sega, Nintendo and Microsoft (shudder) into a large room. When in the large room you give each of the four groups a colour and there own corner in the room.
So there they are in a wet, damp miserable room. What next? oh yeah give them guns and bombs.
They can then run around the room killing each other screaming at the oposition why they are willing to die just to prove that they were in favour of the best console/company.
The winner is the person who is left standing. They win because they will be the only gamer left in the world to buy there console and the others won't sell any as there fans are well... dead.
So there you go!
You have a "sandbox" level, where you can set all the parameters and have endless money to get you used to it or different scenarios with goals like:
Export $50,000 of each product within 40 years (involving you building the island, allocating EVERYTHING).
or
A storm has destroyed your island, restore to it's former glory within 60 years.
It's entirely up to you what you want to do.
I did the sandbox for a while until I got the idea and then started some scenarios.
Fantastic graphics, brilliant music, hard to play if you want to or easy if you dont.
And a good support team that reply to emails within 2 hrs with any tech queries you have.
Although since I installed the patch, it runs perfect.
