The "General Games Chat" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
A lot of entries mentioned things which have generally been discussed before or are in the pipeline. They include:
User Profiles
Polls
Walkthroughs and Game Guides
Highest Scores
Who is currently posting
Splash Plastic (which is too expensive for us to do)
Online Reddies
Logos and Ringtones (see UKphonetones.com)
Genre search for games
Tell a Friend.
It just goes to show how busy we are that we are unable to get many of the above into place. But hey, expenditure is controlled by income (hint).
I liked Darkness' idea about tutorials, and Mantis made the suggestion to have a "Gamesmaster" of the forums based on competitions for high scores.
Cookie Monster wants people to be able to promote their website (we already offer this for Freeola customers) and he also suggests that we have an office pet which is monitored with a web cam (brilliant).
Monkey_with_Attitude suggests a "most played games of the week" counter on UKgames.com.
Freak of the Dark says our logo should "move or something".
Turbonutter reckons we should run Flash games and this is supported by Shaneo who says we should run SR Arena and give prizes to the best players. Turbonutter also tells us that we are lacking on PC game specification of the type you find on the back of the box and Swish extends this to a link under each title.
CDouch is a "man of a thousand ideas", mostly on the button too. He lists: Information on gaming from around the world, more mini sites like UKgt3, kids corner, celebrity visits and better organised release info including more information on unreleased games (to name but a few of his suggestions).
The rules (written by Kendozod) state "exciting and would attract a lot of visitors".
THE WINNERS ARE:
CDouch for MORE INFORMATION ON UNRELEASED GAMES.
Turbonutter for FLASH GAMES.
Many thanks for all of your participation and, for the time being, I promise not to confuse the issue by holding any other similar competition.

New Site Features.
Tony has let me loose to post a new and exciting competition!
So here goes:
This competition is for all of you to think up new features for our websites. We already have cheats, clips, demos, discussions etc but are there other features you would like us to add?
The aim here is for the feature to be low admin maintenance and low in cost (obviously!) but be exciting and would attract lots of visitors.
They can be fun, educational, business, reference, silly, cool - anything as long as they NOT sexual or violent in nature.
This competition is open for 1 month and the best ideas that we USE will win a game as part of GAMEADAY. If no ideas are used then I will pick 1 winner that I deem the best.
CLOSING DATE: 8th July 2001
So get thinking and posting. Remember, your suggestions could make a difference!
But I'd say no less than a monthe!
I think it would be good, and quite a few decent discussion points would be bought from people's votes and ideas not to mention some debating over the results.
Game
To the post before-Wouldnt you have to send in a photo to prove the scores to prevent cheating!
You could have the top 10 of gaming.
Imagine it... you could have a vote to put a certain number of characters in order of their 'ranking'
IE Top 10 Female gaming Icons
1 Lara Croft
2 Joanna Dark
3 Peach etc.
You could do this for loads of things... Retro games, male characters, RTS's, TBS's, FPS's, Platformers, Gaming characters.
I know my description was a little rushed be it would be good and you could use the same thingy you use for the top posters... it doesn't have to be flashy.
You needn't put them all their at once, just do it say once a month... it would mean more SR Member 'inter@ction' and it just might bring a few more people into the SR community.

Hmmmm...we'll have to see...
But sometimes I feel they get in the way but sometimes I like them just to read if I have been on a load of Newbie Console Wars topiics!
Now here is another idea from the kid genius going by the name of Fish-e.
We all know now that there are substantial amount of stories in the Prime topics forum, and now they do not get the recognition they deserve. This got me thinking "why don't Special Reserve create a an official page on the site for these stories" this way people will be able to read them in all their glory, whether stand alone or mixed.
The name for the site could be something like Ukstories.co.uk
On this page there could be a comment section where people could comment on what they think of the stories.
I also believe there should be a separate forum in Ukdiscussions.co.uk where the stories can be posted for extra bits to be added befor they are put onto the page. Not only will this help the stories get more recognition, it will help stop new stoies in the future cluttering up the prime topics forum. Also standalones can be posted in this forum before being added to "Ukstories.co.uk"
well tell me what you think
Anywho.. The idea goes as follows.
When people sign up for the first time they should be greeted with a page dedicated to those who have just registered and are planning to use UkDiscussions..
On the page it would say the likes of. " Important "
And under there would be the rules of the FOG or " The way of the FOG " as some call it and also a lovely greeting messgae to newbies, telling them history of FOG, standard stuff, no net-speak and ways in which people to reply and grow to like them!
I hope you get the idea, sorry if you don't I am just tired.
I think this idea would be of great use. As when you first come here you do not want to be flung into the deep end and not know what your doing so start them off in the shallow and then let them gently swim into the deeper more pleasent pasr of the pool/FOG :D.
Its for the good of the FOG
Right thats that, time for comp them some sleep!
