The "General Games Chat" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
A lot of entries mentioned things which have generally been discussed before or are in the pipeline. They include:
User Profiles
Polls
Walkthroughs and Game Guides
Highest Scores
Who is currently posting
Splash Plastic (which is too expensive for us to do)
Online Reddies
Logos and Ringtones (see UKphonetones.com)
Genre search for games
Tell a Friend.
It just goes to show how busy we are that we are unable to get many of the above into place. But hey, expenditure is controlled by income (hint).
I liked Darkness' idea about tutorials, and Mantis made the suggestion to have a "Gamesmaster" of the forums based on competitions for high scores.
Cookie Monster wants people to be able to promote their website (we already offer this for Freeola customers) and he also suggests that we have an office pet which is monitored with a web cam (brilliant).
Monkey_with_Attitude suggests a "most played games of the week" counter on UKgames.com.
Freak of the Dark says our logo should "move or something".
Turbonutter reckons we should run Flash games and this is supported by Shaneo who says we should run SR Arena and give prizes to the best players. Turbonutter also tells us that we are lacking on PC game specification of the type you find on the back of the box and Swish extends this to a link under each title.
CDouch is a "man of a thousand ideas", mostly on the button too. He lists: Information on gaming from around the world, more mini sites like UKgt3, kids corner, celebrity visits and better organised release info including more information on unreleased games (to name but a few of his suggestions).
The rules (written by Kendozod) state "exciting and would attract a lot of visitors".
THE WINNERS ARE:
CDouch for MORE INFORMATION ON UNRELEASED GAMES.
Turbonutter for FLASH GAMES.
Many thanks for all of your participation and, for the time being, I promise not to confuse the issue by holding any other similar competition.

Below are the original rules written by Kendozod
New Site Features.
Tony has let me loose to post a new and exciting competition!
So here goes:
This competition is for all of you to think up new features for our websites. We already have cheats, clips, demos, discussions etc but are there other features you would like us to add?
The aim here is for the feature to be low admin maintenance and low in cost (obviously!) but be exciting and would attract lots of visitors.
They can be fun, educational, business, reference, silly, cool - anything as long as they NOT sexual or violent in nature.
This competition is open for 1 month and the best ideas that we USE will win a game as part of GAMEADAY. If no ideas are used then I will pick 1 winner that I deem the best.
CLOSING DATE: 8th July 2001
So get thinking and posting. Remember, your suggestions could make a difference!
When you click on somones name and get their stats, allow people to add stuff to that like age, name, MSN name etc if they want to. Other things could be a link to their first post, most recent post etc.
Put up tutorials on HTML, Java etc. A lot of people on here seem to be into making their own website, that could really help. If you can't put them up yourselves, let people upload them like cheats. Maybe best tutorial over a week a gets a prize or something?
Run competitons in the shops. Link up some PC's, DC's and PS2's, when you can, over the 'net and run competitions between stores with prizes at the end of the day.
What I mean here is one part of the screen is customiseable, i think it may use javascript or something (I am no tech wizard) but some sites have this. One site has this part and you can add users to see if they are online, much like messenger.
It would be cool if we could add members of the discussions to it and see if they are discussing.
One other thing that could happen is a part of the page like this (maybe in the same place) where on each site (say ukcheats.com) there is a button to add it to their favourites or SR Personaliser (The small space). Here each user will have quick and easy access to sites around the SR Network. So say i wanted to goto the discussions, I would just click on discussions in my personliser. All the laces around the SR network i like to visit will have listed links here and it is good navigation.
Also this may be of use to newbies who first come onto the forums and don't know which topic to go to first, so they will be attracted to the lovely gold star which will aid them on their future on the forums!
Here you could list with descriptions products to look forward to in the coming months.
Such as:
In 1 month....... (info)
In 2 months....... (info)
The hottest products which people can pre order and order to be on their doorsteps. Here people will be able to see what is going to be hot in the future and it will give them an insight in what to buy.
Here you could list all of the highest people n SR such as Tony himself and then a description about their history and them, maybe even including pictures.
Or how about a FAQ page? Here customers could reassure themselves aboutt hings they want to know and if their anwser is not anwsered then you could have a link to email SR about their problems.
Things included could be such things such as: How long will my order take to deliver? etc.
If you done the stats page you could show stats such as registered number of users on the network, top selling products ever etc. Whatever you feel is essential.
You could also have a section where people could sumbit reviews on your service and what they think about SR. These could be viewed and it would assure customers. A link could be put on some of your main sites to some of the best comments.
