If it is serious detectives i would say the one out of Midsomer Murders, i think his name is Barnaby. I used to like that programme.

He's always on Hallmark, the champion. He's a very human figure, down-to-Earth, bit like Quincy. Unlike Sloan who has to be the best at everything - what an egotistical bonehead. I imagine him like that in real life too. And his son. Anyone else notice his son's hair getting more brown as the episodes get later?

I used to hate their setups where the suspected criminal would be allowed to do something obviously incriminating, then the Sloans would be cleverly hidden behind a large curtain. I shouldn't make tap dancing a reason though, that'd be unfair.
