Maths : A
Only did that exam. I do the rest next year.
And you?

But everyone who applies for Medicine is predicted 3/4 As. If they aren't then they won't get in. Like I said, they're looking for any reason not to give you a place, and seeing as everyone is predicted the same A levels, they look to GCSEs.

Unlucky, the university must've not wanted to see what their final grades were then and didn't bother to set any conditions.
Didn't they put their predicted final grades in aswell?

They are only half an A-level. You apply to university during your second year.... Hence, they had got those grades at AS level and then subsequently applied for Medicine but didn't even get an offer.

Yeah now C's wouldn't be enough.
Previously they would have been.
When I was doing my GCSEs Cs pretty much got you everywhere and Bs guaranteed it. Now it's all screwed up. :D

"sorted" as in a C in English, Maths or Science means most worthwhile Universities won't just throw your application away when they get it.
No way you're getting into a good medical course with Cs at GCSE unless you have a VERY good reason for not doing so great. Medicine is the most competetive course with very few places, the admissions tutors are looking for any reason not to give you a place, and Cs at GCSE is better than most.
From what I know, typical courses at English Uni's are more intensive and set over 3 years, but ours aer over 4.
AS levels used to only be half of an A-level when I was doing A-levels. So having 4 half A-levels would only be the equivalent of 2 A-levels. :S
As for GCSEs they're unreliable nowadays because there's far too many A's being achieved: there's very little to differentiate between applicants (which would mean a 'C' nowadays at GCSE probably would cost you a place, so fair enough).
