If there are any fans here of similar films to those I already listed then I'd appreciate some recommendations that aren't too insane. I don't want anything that's just an excuse for random animated soft porn either.
Cheers, people.

I liked Perfect Blue, it's a good movie, something that Alfred Hitchcock would have made himself. It's about a jpop idol who stops singing to concentrate on other things, like acting, unfortunately she has a crazy fan(s) who arent happy about her new career change.

I dont think it's as good as the movie, let me check, I still havent gotten round to seeing it either. Totoro will know but I havent seen him post in awhile. Here's a very positive review about the first DVD http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=55864

Quite a few I think, though I've only seen half the episode Rosalind enjoyed it but the end wasnt as good. If anyone hasnt seen Hellsing, here's a very nice review giving it good ratins all around, http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=12818
I've got this on my shelf http://www.ncsx.org/2003/ncs091503/Wednesday/hellsing_aftx.jpg

As if by magic :D
Just happened to be browsing here and always like to give my 2 cents when it comes to this topic.
Stand Alone Complex is indeed a fantastic show; it can be a little heavy going at times (there is one long and fairly complicated story going through the whole series with a few stand alone episodes cropping up too), but it's quality viewing (high production values for a series too).
Anime films I'd recommend: Akira, The Castle of Cagliostro*, Castle in the Sky*, The Cat Returns, Cowboy Bebop The Movie*, Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, Grave of the Fireflies, Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade, Kiki’s Delivery Service*, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Patlabor 1*, 2*, 3, Porco Rosso*, Princess Mononoke*, Spirited Away*, Tokyo Godfathers, Wings of Honneamise*.
Series: Cowboy Bebop*, Cromartie High School, Cyber City Oedo 808, Excel Saga*, FLCL, Fullmetal Alchemist, GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka*, Last Exile*, L/R: Licensed By Royalty, Lupin III TV*, Macross Plus, Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, Memories, Samurai Champloo.
*=must see
*erupts*
we have to wait approximately 8 months for the PAL version of a DVD.
For this theory, i have used FMP volume 7.
US release date was: February 17, 2004
UK release date was: October 18, 2004.
Still, Fumoffu's out in january! DAMN!
Princess Mononoke
Perfect Blue (though it's f***ing creepy...)
Grave of Fireflies (terribly heart-wrenching though.)
Ghost in the Shell
I love that series.
That is all.
:-)
