Having recently viewed 'Akira', 'Blood: The Last Vampire' and 'Spirited Away' I'm keen to explore the genre further, but some of the titles on offer seem a little (how should I put this?) 'not my cuppa tea' (e.g. too damn crazy).

If there are any fans here of similar films to those I already listed then I'd appreciate some recommendations that aren't too insane. I don't want anything that's just an excuse for random animated soft porn either.

I recommend Boogiepop Phantom. It's very odd, but very good. Also Noir is good, and if you can get hold of it Super Dinmentional Fortress Macross.

yeah I love Azumanga, Osaka-san and Tomo-chan are my favourites :) we have most of them on DVD, except for the final one. Oh and of course Yukari-sensei lol I love her driving :D

At the moment I am watching Magic Users Club, Comic Party, Naruto, Last Exile and some other stuff.

I love FMA, trying to get my ex to watch it.

Just thought I'd tell you guys that Howl's Moving Castle (new ghibli film) is coming out in the cinema in September, should be good.

This stuff looks great. Will be ordering as soon as I have some cash.

Full Metal Alchemist is superb - and if you even consider yourself liking Manga, you MUST watch Ghost In the Shell. Not the series, the film - it's incredible.

Series to watch - Evangelion and Cowboy Bebop. Both so amazing. Hope that helps, and enjoy :D

Full Metal Panic's pretty good.
