There is 32Mbs of RDRam (Rambus) which is the main system memory. Every other processor in the maching has at least 2-4 meg of buffer RAM so that the system doesn't grind to a halt if the program it is tackling creates a bottleneck. The only RAM the PS2 has a shortage of is Texture memory and a decent texture compression system, which would have very little effect on processing a 3D environment, so the PS2 is much faster than a DC, thanks to it's 2 vector units, which can carry out the same sort of calculations as Nvidia's GPUs. Making the speed of the processor more flexible to doing other things like game physics. Also the infrastructure of the Ps2 processor allows it to be the fastest CPU on the planet, much faster than any PC CPU, but it falls behind PCs when it comes to graphics capabilities, why?? Because Nvidia and ATI are geniuses in the field, the one advantage the Xbox and the Gamecube have over either is that these two companies wipe the floor with the PS2 graphics system!
umm... again "topic check" grix!

What, you mean like some sort of chat forum?
Counterstrike is the best for that.
Your team-mate hides in the shadows, you run round the corner, see someone and unload at them.
Then you get banned from the next game for "killing your own team", get taunted and flamed and sit there laughing.
Mind you, on the Italy level, you can shoot the chickens.
So it balances out.
Multi-player own-team murder is fantastic. Obviously detrimental to winning, but funny as hell

Sonic
Usually, my team mate runs out in front of me when I'm firing, so I can't always be blamed... but sometimes I lose concentration, and just shoot them when they walk towards me.
Anyway, forgot abou the Z-buffer... but suffice it top say the PS2 and DC do what they are programmed to, and that may be rendering every poly, or only rendering what u see.
Sonic
Overall, the PS2 is faster than then DC... but it won't be for about a year until you see that PS2 games look any better than DC games dues to Sony's hard to develop for hardware
Sonic
Ideally the best 3d engine does

1. Works out what is infront of you

3.Generates things behind these that are not hidden

And the part of the hardware utilised is called a Z buffer, which both the DC and PS2 have!!
Quick loading, brilliant levels.
The only downside?
A sister that didnt understand the screams of an 11yr old that went "I'm with you, stop hitting my bloke! You foolish sibling"
Mind you, play video games with a 7yr old and that'll happen.
"Most annoying spectrum game of all time: Renegade"
"Thirty seconds play from a game that took 10+ mins to load. Fabulous."
Now though, you can go and get a Speccy emulator off the web, and download Renegade, and get much shorter loading times... so you might even to get past the first level this time... :0)
I might go look for that this afternoon...
