If you can name one decent dramatic role he's done since Ronin (1998!) then I'll give you a biscuit. Click above for more reasons why Bobby doesn't deserve our reverence any more.

I actually think De Niro is really good. I liked him a lot in Ronin, and i enjoyed Hide and Seek more recently, although a lot of other people didnt!

It was when he starred opposite a cartoon Moose and Squirrel in comedy Nazi regalia I lost interest.
Just watching the 2-disc special Casino. It's like visiting a once cool relative who's had a stroke and sits in the corner fouling themself and crying because they can't remember what's for tea to see De Niro now.

However, whatever trangressions he commits against cinema - he's forgiven for the opening sequence/titles of Raging Bull.

If you read it, I was careful not to say he's a bad actor, because he isn't. I'm going off him because he seems unable to pick good films any more - he can act and rant and rave all he wants, but if the film sucks, then I don't care. It's becoming more and more obvious he's chasing the green rather than any more awards.

Hide and Seek

Only so long you can trade on your past glories, mate. Things like Analyse This/That and Meet the Fockers etc aren't just terrible comedies, they actually sour the roles they're taking the mick out of. It's like he's taking a dump on his career for kicks. Every time I see his wrinkled face crease into a smile while he craps out another lame gag, it breaks my heart.

He was good in The Score.

Even though he's been in a lot of crappy films of late, you can't say he was bad in any of them even if the film sucked.

The man could do the worst possible films for the next 30 years, yet you could not disrespect him or take away his absolutley legendary status.

He's done too many amazing films/roles already - it doesn't matter what he does now. His status as a legend and one of the industry greatest talents will always remain.

Any good film that requires a male actor aged 50+?
