The "Freeola Customer Forum" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
We want a group of people who can recommend one track a day which
hopefully people will listen to and pass judgement on. The idea is
just to introduce people to new music.

NOTE FROM ASHER - IMPORTANT
If i'm going to be taking control of this for a little while, I expect everyone to take responsibility for their songs and post up a yousendit link or something similar up on the day of their song. I don't have the capabilities to download everything super-quickly like Flock does and put it up, so it's up to you. If you want you're song to get a fair few listeners it's advised that you do this, but if you don't want to then that's fine.
Preferably at least a day in advance so I have time to edit the post each day.
And Untitled by SPs is fantastic. Obviously.
Really good actually. Nice chilled music, something I could put on at any time and enjoy. Any more recommendations?
Joe Walsh - Rocky Mountain Way
A classic, of course. I quite like it, the Talkbox earns kudos too; pointless, but fun.
De La Soul - Eye Know
Like Fug, really easy listening, nice funky sound, another really enjoyable track. Liking the cheeky use of "Sitting on a dock..." whistling, too.
Jeff Buckley - Dream Brother
Another good one. Very epic sound, almost as if it should build into something a little bigger than it does. Still, very good.
Kanye West - Never Let Me Down
Good, but I've heard better by him to be honest. Good, but I was expecting better to be honest.
South - Colours in Waves
Good, something I could really get into. Wasn't expecting them to sound how they do, quite a surprise.
you'll see.
Now my contribution is sorted, back to some listening.
Eye Know - Either Tilt or Asher got me on to this one in the Hip Hop thread. Sort of lead me to getting De La Soul's Three Feet High and Rising album. Good stuff.
Never Let Me Down - Already have the alubm. Kanye talking about how God watches over him with a nice back track. Although I sort of wonder if Jay-Z really got it... :-S
Dream Brother - I like the instrumental, all mellow and floaty. I'd have to listen to it more to make anything of the words.
Aurora - Different from the other Foo Fighters song I heard years ago. I like this one better. I notice that everyone's putting out fairly chilled music on here...
Fug - I sort of got onto Cymande from reading the Stone Roses book, being tipped off as these as a major influence. And sure enough, it's pretty good stuff. :-)
Rocky Mountain Way - Very bluesy... that's all I can think to say. I'm not cut out for reveiwing music...
> So how do I upload my track onto this blog thing then?
You can't, only myself and NY can do it and honestly you wouldn't want to, it's been a huge pain in the ass setting it up.
I have to get the files, convert them and then put them up.
And Asher, the Foos are quite good at quieter stuff. If you like Aurora download Exhausted and Walking After You as well. Not similar musically, but nice relaxing stuff.
Exhausted is personally one of my all time favourites, especially the acoustic version if you can find it.
EDIT - Damnit to hell
Monday 18th - Jeff Buckley - Dream Brother (Flock)
It's great and you've no excuse not to have listened to it now
Tuesday 19th - Foo Fighters - Aurora - (Rickoss)
Much better than i expected after the last one from them. Has a very very clear The Who influence in the intro and is far more chilled than anything else i've heard from them, almost Stone Roses relaxed.
Wednesday 20th - Cymande - Fug (Strafio)
Unavailable
Thursday 21st - Joe Walsh - Rocky Mountain Way - (Munn)
It reminds me of someone, can't think who. Has a early 70's biker blues feel about it with the sort of vocal distortion used by John Lennon.

Ok it's more legal, but SR should be protected, it's just me, you and the hosts that could be in trouble. But as nothing is being tranferred over or made available it't no different to listening to pirate radio.

Ms NY is the saviour of the DOTD
EDIT
Not been able to get two tracks for this week so far.
