And just to add to it, the release of the film pretty much lands on my birthday ! The old film is one of my favourites so its cool to have the new one arrive for my birthday. ;-)
I've been watching trailers for it since around Christmas time, but I've managed to avoid seeing this one thats supposedly doing the rounds online that shows the Martian war machines. Don't want to see them in all their glory till I see the film. :-)
Gonna be going on Thursday 30th June seeing as they start showing the film in Basildon a day early. ;-)

Yup, even down to the *SPOILER**SPOILER**SPOILER* virus stopping the invasion at the end, although in ID4s case it was a technological as opposed to biological virus. Really bloody silly idea too......
Personally, I don't care. Each version has it's differences, and as long as I get to see the big budget destruction, the tripods and the heat ray, I'm happy. There's a Thunderchild style showdown too from what I hear.
If you like the WOTW story, check out Chrisopher Priests "The Space Machine". It's a novel in the style of Wells, crossing the Time Machine and WOTW. It shows the invasion before it gets to earth, and the events from a different perspective. A very entertaining read all in all.
My tickets are booked for 7pm, Thursday. Itching to see this movie....
Hopefully it should stick to the original story more. Otherwise it'll just be another way of showing Independance Day, which funnily enough is just a rip off of War of the Worlds. With added American patriotic crap of course.

Anyone that doesn't know the original ending doesn't deserve to see the movie. Damn, the book has been around since 1898........

If its kept true to the original ending, then the americans wont have anything to do with it, its a rather funny ending but i wont say in case of spoilers.

Wahey that means I'll be able to see it near me on my birthday, and then forget all about the fact I have a three hour maths exam the next day, that I have no intention of revising for...
Donnie Darko's safe, so who cares about all the other billions of people that have died?
Not a bad assumption for a country that constantly begs for our help to bail them out. Has there been a conflict where they HAVE actually gone in alone and won ?
Anyway, enough of the Hollywood kicking. I think we can trust Spielberg to make a great film of the story and stay true to it rather than turn into a load of patriotic retardedness.
Seen the odd few trailers too, all looks pretty good stuff.
