And just to add to it, the release of the film pretty much lands on my birthday ! The old film is one of my favourites so its cool to have the new one arrive for my birthday. ;-)
I've been watching trailers for it since around Christmas time, but I've managed to avoid seeing this one thats supposedly doing the rounds online that shows the Martian war machines. Don't want to see them in all their glory till I see the film. :-)
Gonna be going on Thursday 30th June seeing as they start showing the film in Basildon a day early. ;-)
On the funny side of things though, as usual there are still a number of Americans on various forums going on about how its an accurate retelling of the novel and actually come up with the most stupid and bizarre ideas of what some of it meant. One or two seemed to think the Martians were beaten by birds.
I spent like an hour typing up this thing on a movie forum trying to explain it all, but then I just deleted it cause it was so much easier to just call them stupid.
One thing in the film that really does sum up alot of Americans is one line the son says in the film. Ray (Cruise) is trying to explain that the Tripods came from "somewhere else" and the son's reply - "what.... like Europe ?"
Anyway, it was alright - but the film I make in my head from the novel is alot better. ;-)
Sounds good to me!

Yeah, just a shame about the overtly Christian overtones. (Church at the end, singing hyms) "You wanted a miracle!? Well, you got one!"

That's not really anything amazing. Got mine booked for the same day too. It's called a special advance preview :0)

I hate you. I'm trying to convince my old man to come with me - he loved the old film and has the album on vinyl.

Me too. Literally.
