*************SPOILERS******************
As most of us know now, even if we didnt want to...the draft pick was Kurt Angle.
I have to say i loved the 'Wooooo!' battle between Kurt and Ric Flair!
Best bit of comedy on RAW in aaaages! Every time i watch it i crack up laughing!
I actually liked the final segment even though it did have Triple H talking. A few matches made for next week and Vengeance. Shaping up to be good. (Not as good as ECW though!)
Should be a better PPV with another belt on the line with the Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship. Could be a doorway for the title to go back to Smackdown? Who knows.
Any other comments?
> Was it me or did the Big Show get a bigger ovation than Cena?
Gah. I don't understand WWE fans anymore.
Some of them have even started cheering Masters. Is it out of some desire to be ironic?
> Thanks for that Congy :)
Apologies for the spelling, the industrial strength painkillers have made me dopey.
Hart was WWE champion, but his contract was exprining. He signed a dealwith WCW and was set to leave the WWE. Vince told him he would be dropping the belt to Michaels. Michaels and Hart had a rocky history, despite several excellent one-on-one encounters due to what Hart saw as political maneuvering behind the scenes by Michaels.
Hart refused to drop the belt to Michaels. Vince agreed with Hart and the plan, as far as Hart was aware, going into his last match, was that he would go out as champion. Behind Hart's back, Vince arranged with Shawn and referee Earl Hebner that Michaels would lock Hart in the Sharpshooter and Earl would call it as a submission, despite Hart never having taped out, to get the belt on to Michaels.
Michaels and Hebner (despite what Canadiabn crowds would have you believe), claim all they did was carry out the bosses instructions.
Vince defended himself by saying it was , what was right for the business, it certainly would have been bad for WWE if Hart had turned up on WCW TV with the WWE title still in tow.
Bret claimed he would have been happy to drop the belt to several WWE workers and Vince had the chance to do this many times leading up to Montreal...
I thought it was stupid having the Big Show in a handicap match the same night as Cena, especially as Show won. If Show had lost then they could have used it and said "If a man like the Big Show can't win a handicap match then what chance has Cena got" but instead Big Show won and made it look easy.
Jericho should nowhere near win on Sunday because if he cant beat Cena in a 2 on 1 match hows he going to manage a 1 on 1? I think Jericho should have got the win because now he looks weaker because even when teamed with the IC Champ he cant beat Cena.
Then again it seemed that he could have broken up the pin but instead decided to grab the chair.
As for HBK i thought the crowd were brilliant! and HBK was a bit funny, although i didnt see the point of taking his jacket, tie and shirt off :S
WWE seem to increasingly be using entrance music when there is no superstar to enter (Matt Hardy at the Edge/Lita wedding, and now Bret Hart and Hogan this week)
What are the chances of seeing Hart at Summerslam? I am assuming that they are pretty small.
This might sound like a dumb question but could someone explain what happened at the Montreal screwjob? I wasnt watching back then and i dont know what happened? I know HBK screwed Bret somehow but im not sure how.
Was it a match where Hart said if he lost he would never wrestle on american soil again?
Shame he interrupted the main event but then again neither Hogan or Angle is going ito the Summerslam on a loss.
The rest however blows chunks
Probably still will though.
On the subject of Michaels, he has alway, IMHO, been far more entertaining as a heel. As a face, he is super-bland. Can't believe it took them this long to turn him. Maybe he can team up with HHH once he gets back and go after the Tag Team belts (at least keep HHH away from the world title for a while) and get the belts off our Super Tag Team champions (that's the guys who you never see on Raw, but are mostly jobbed out in singles matches on Heat...)
The Michaels thing was the only thing worth watching. I know some would say Tatanka appearing was good but he couldn't even do the job. He had to have an Angle DQ.
I was probably too tired to enjoy it but I think Raw is going through a real stale patch.
