Its not likely that you will actually be able to have UNLIMITED units though, i doubt you would be able to get the required resources, its probably more a "my willy is bigger than your willy" type affair.
Plus this game is hard and you get to be on any side good vs evil
edit: oh, you changed it to 15,000

Unlimited units!!! where's the fun in that? Strategy games must be hard, pummeling orcs with an unlimited amount of troops would get tiresome, crafting an army of thousands, sending them across Europe to crush empires and hoping you have the skill to match the army that awaits on your arrival, thats a good strategy game.
Oh, and after my comment about battles reaching 10,000 units, you didn't think I'd actually be impressed by such a small figure of 1500 did you?

Ah yes http://www.gamershell.com/pc/the_lord_of_the_rings_the_battle_for_middle_earth/screenshots.html?id=24 http://www.totalwar.com/community/rp11.htm uncanny.
Still, doubtful you'll be able to amass troops that can number in the thousands, Total War's battlefields can muster up to 10,000 units on screen at once, and if that isn't the most impressive spectacle in gaming history then I don't know what is.
Again, BFME looks like a fun, light weight RTS, the kind I'd expect from a developer who put aside innovation for a quick buck, but I remain unimpressed.
