"Tomorrow afternoon I leave for Amsterdam"

For 4 days. Had so many opportunities to go but had to turn them down, mainly due to being financially embarrassed or having unavoidable student exams. Myself and 4 other decent people are jumping on a plane at 3pm tomorrow.

Needless to say I'm very much looking forward to it, I'm not above most of the sordid activities you envision and am sure to spend a fortune. Got a nice 5 bedroom apartment with all mod cons, for those nights where our third eyes are 'squee-geed' to a flawless shine. Even a nice Jacuzzi is included which I hope to claim as my own.

Is this post to gloat? Most likely. I can turn it into a question though - who here has been (without their parents, girlfriends or pets), and which bars/cafes/miscellaneous locations do you most highly recommend? Omit no detail, however depraved.

Time to have a bath, then pack before a couple of frosty ones.

Nice one Tim, didn't you venture into any coffee establishments then? I know you used to enjoy the odd toke, but you have since turned away from the dark side haven't you?

Ah, Amsterdam. I've been to Holland on a scout trip (yes: scout trip) but didn't make it to Amsterdam - I did, however, take full advantage of my scout leader's tendency to let me get away with more than most (sympathy can sometimes be a good thing) and took even more advantage of the Dutch's lax drinking laws and cheap Grolsche. Ironically, "grolsche" was the noise I made as all the alcohol I'd drunk reappeared later in the evenings.

I went to Amsterdam back in '99. I concur that Anne Frank's house is poor, also I don't understand how the Nazi's looked at a house with 5 stories, then went inside and could only actually access 4 of them, but didn't realise that MAYBE there was something secret in the missing 5th story. No wonder they lost the war.
